posting this from a Chromebook. Keys too small, touchpad too small, screen will only seem smaller over time I'm sure. Eh. Guess I'll put it back then. :P

Hey, #Android   crunchers! With NativeBOINC, be aware that the applications used are actually pre-built binaries bundled with the app itself - not that this is a problem, or violates any rules/policies, but they are anonymous platforms all the same, and thus aren't really "supported" by the projects unless the project programmers wrote them! I found this out the hard way by running Riesel Sieve jobs from PrimeGrid on a very modern phone (HTC DNA) and watching them fail catastrophically after long runtimes, sometimes 24 hours or more. On the other hand, SubSetSum@Home(when the servers are online) distributes work easily completed in only 3-5 hours depending on your CPU. The Oproject ALX app was working (I think) for a short time but they now have no WUs. WUProp@Home will run stably, but then again it's also not computationally intensive (essentially a background process). I had no luck with POGS - days-long tasks, no thanks.

Good Tip: Run NativeBOINC while your device is plugged in. Also, remember there is a way to easily set up "remote access" via a simple hostname and optional password so that you can simply connect to your Android device's BOINC client from a desktop environment and set preferences the same way you do for the normal desktop-OS BOINC Manager/Client. :)

For example, I selected to allow remote access, then find my phone's local IP - let's say 192.168.1.15 - go to BOINC Manager at any of my laptops, and select "Launch another BOINC Manager" and we're off...just remember it's best to add projects from the NativeBOINC app interface unless, of course, you've written an anonymous platform app of your own...in which case you should probably make it public anyway. ;)

I've got loads more #BOINC   tips, too. Years of experience with BOINC and technology in general, especially GPUs, even working in the IT field, and still I'm only just barely ranked inside the top 1K in the world by total credit. In my defense, most of my brilliant ideas have involved Pentium 4-based machines in some way...
