Have you heard the buzz about the documentary @Extinction Soup?

Here's a powerful interview with filmmaker @philip walker and executive producer @Stefanie Brendl (the two set up an @Indiegogo campaign last November and raised more than $42,000!)

"It's not just about saving sharks, it's about saving the ocean. And by saving the ocean we will be saving mankind."

If you haven't already, check out the collaborative efforts of over 80 artists in this incredibly powerful visual representation of the spoken word poem "To This Day" by Shane Koyczan.

My personal favorite line/visual combination is:
"a tidal wave of anti depressants
and an adolescence of being called popper
one part because of the pills
and ninety nine parts because of the cruelty
he tried to kill himself in grade ten
when a kid who still had his mom and dad
had the audacity to tell him “get over it” as if depression
is something that can be remedied
by any of the contents found in a first aid kit"

Be sure to check out their website for more information on on the project!

It's easy to get lost in the idea of documentaries being the only way to educate our audiences on global issues that are near and dear to our hearts. But, we all need to remember that "narrative filmmaking can also be a powerful tool for getting ideas across — for getting people to think about things they wouldn’t normally think about".
Ritesh Batra, in an interview with VICE News, talks about his short film The Masterchef and how the use of narrative film can sometimes be a better way to deliver your message.
