Guys I'm considering bringing my current group over to HM5. But we are in the middle of the Slavers megamodule. HM5 is not the same puppy HM was so are their any conversion guidelines people use to convert from AD&D to HM5?
We had a D&D game where all our characters used the rules of the gmae but the Skin/FX where laid on to have fun. eg. we had a mind mage which was a normal MU and he had a mind blast that was effectively him using a crossbow. I was a beast master and my Sabertooth cat was a two handed sword and I had to be next to Cygar my cat to have him attack... Basically the best game ever
Let me think on it for tonight and get back to you in the morning. The equation vs design part has me thinking on it. I'm thinking something like a PC archetype table vs character class table that moves you over into one of the classes. Sort of preppy equals paladin or fighter style thing. I've got to reread Crimson Dragon Slayer tonight Venger again to really nail down the ideas more man.
On the narrative side of gaming can I recommend cortex+. I'm a huge fan of this game and would really recommend it. My personal favorite is Leverage rpg but all the others are also very good. The Cortex Hackers guide is coming out soon and that could be a real good one to pick up. They also have a Firefly rpg coming too (yes they had the Serenity rpg which used normal cortex this new Firefly one will use cortex+) I find fate is a bit less fun then cortex+ at the table.
I took a look at Cortex a couple years ago and still have the PDF of the rulebook on my hard drive. I definitely liked what I saw, but I'd like to give FATE a shot just because it seems so different from the systems I usually play.
I've actually considered Cortex as more of an alternative for Savage Worlds, on a mechanical level, at least. I'll keep in mind its narrative applications if FATE doesn't pan out. Thanks!
