// Kipenzi, the baby giraffe who scampered her way into the hearts of millions around the world, died on Tuesday at Dallas Zoo. The animal is said to have broken her neck in an accident inside her enclosure. The Texas zoo released a statement that said Kipenzi, whose birth in April was watched by more than 3 million people via Animal Planet, had been running around on Tuesday evening when she “made a sharp turn, and ran into the perimeter edge of the [giraffe] habitat.” “She broke three vertebra in her neck, and passed away immediately,” the zoo wrote on Facebook. “Our hearts are broken… Tears are flowing freely here tonight.” Kipenzi’s mother, Katie, “stood guard for a few moments” over her baby’s body before it was taken away, zoo officials say. //

World’s Largest Pitbull “Hulk” Has 8 Puppies Worth Up To Half A Million Dollars

Eight beautiful puppies were recently fathered by the world’s largest pit bull, Hulk. Owned by Marlon and Lisa Grennan, founders of Dark Dynasty K9s in New Hampshire, USA, Hulk is being trained to be a protection dog. The puppies, if also trained to be elite protection dogs, could fetch up to $55,000 per pup.

“Their papa isn’t a legend for no reason but the potential to have another record-breaking world famous dog amongst his puppies is definitely there,” Mr. Grennan told Daily Mail. “Most of them are already sold. That’s just how well thought of Hulk’s bloodline is thought of.”

Dark Dynasty K9’s is a breeder specializing in protection dogs. Marlon trains each dog personally from birth, and the dogs live together in a pack “without fences, barriers or physical restrictions.” The dogs are so well trained that that they are even permitted to interact with the Grennan’s three-year-old son, Jordan.

Has anyone ever tried taking photographs of Hummingbirds?? **They're VERY hard to shoot!

Exploring the mountains in the coffee growing region of western Colombia, there was a small humming bird sanctuary located far up on a hiking trail we went on for the day. Here wild humming birds would come in and feed on nectar provided for them by a couple of locals. A beautiful location, however trying to photograph them was darn near impossible! They move so unbelievably fast, and won't stay still for more than a second or two. By the time I'd move my focus point over the bird and start to focus, they're off again. After about 50 failed shots, I figured out that the only hope was to lock focus on a particular area (say, a particular section of a branch), and wait till one flies directly on to that location (yeah, you can be waiting a while...), and then take the shot. Even doing this, I could only get the odd sharp one.

Humming birds typically flap their wings 50 times per second, and can travel at speeds up to 55-60 km/h! Bizarre little things.

Anyhow, here's one of the few photos that ended up sharp.

Share & enjoy!
