Amazing how totalitarian government, whether socialist, outright fascist, or communist, are completely destructive to liberty and wealth. It is incredible that people cannot see this fact. From where does the blindness come?

No matter what, this is interesting.

Was The Tower Of Babel Real, And Is This What It Looked Like?

Smithsonian Magazine claims that an ancient stone tablet depicts the Tower Of Babel; that the tower itself was real, and that this is the only image of it to have persisted.

This doesn't mean the mythology was real, but it certainly could have grown out of a real-life seed: a {n arrogant or} monumental building project that failed, with dire consequences.

The tablet has been in private hands for years; they claim its significance wasn't understood until recently, when it was examined by scholars.

Supposedly, it dates to the 6th century BCE and depicts the Tower of Babylon {a tall ziggurat or temple tower [Tower of Temple of Babylon, precisely], a Mesopotamian stepped pyramid} in relief, next to a portrait of its builder {I'd think more accurately: patron} King Nebuchadnezzar II, and tells the tower's story. I don't believe they mentioned which script; I'm looking for a source.

It's said to describe how the tower was constructed, and to give its dimensions {or the area it spanned}.

If this is to be believed?

Trifecta: all of the necessary elements together, in a single, ostensibly vetted artifact.

Interesting...

This link features a video telling of the tale; be forewarned:

I found the narration in the video to be exceptionally strident (3:41).

If you don't want to watch the clip, you can see a screenshot of the tower and a photo of the tablet, here: [http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2017/05/stone-tablet-may-be-proof-that-tower-of-babel-was-real/]

The text was translated as:

NEBUCHADNEZZAR, KING OF BABYLON AM I – IN ORDER TO COMPLETE E-TEMEN-ANKI AND E-UR-ME-IMIN-ANKI I MOBILIZED ALL COUNTRIES EVERYWHERE, EACH AND EVERY RULER WHO HAD BEEN RAISED TO PROMINENCE OVER ALL THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD – LOVED BY MARDUK, FROM THE UPPER SEA TO THE LOWER SEA, THE DISTANT NATIONS, THE TEEMING PEOPLE OF THE WORLD, KINGS OF REMOTE MOUNTAINS AND FAR-FLUNG ISLANDS – THE BASE I FILLED IN TO MAKE A HIGH TERRACE. I BUILT THEIR STRUCTURES WITH BITUMEN AND BAKED BRICK THROUGHOUT. I COMPLETED IT RAISING ITS TOP TO THE HEAVEN, MAKING IT GLEAM BRIGHT AS THE SUN

Dr. Andrew George, a professor of Babylonian at the University of London, the scholar identified in the video, speculates, "The myth about the multitude of tongues comes from the context described in the stele about the multitude of peoples enlisted in the construction of the tower. There were many languages spoken on the construction site. From that it may be that the Bible got the idea of the confusion of tongues."
