I thought this story was a good reminder to all that what someone's life looks like on the outside (or on Instagram), doesn't truly reflect what is going on inside.  It is so sad that many envied the life of someone who ultimately felt their life wasn't worth living.

As a side note, I'm very upset that the media keeps talking about her 'adoptive' parents. They were her PARENTS.  End of story.  #adoption #suicide #l'wrenScott
To look at her carefully curated Instagram feed, designer L’Wren Scott was a 1-percenter, a gold-plated member of the international elite: There she was on vacation in India with boyfriend…

I don't think that is the reason why the media specified she was adopted. It's just something the media tends to do whenever anyone is adopted. They constantly refer to Sharon Stone's son as her 'adopted son' for example.

They weren't trying to clarify that her PARENTS weren't to blame due to her having different genes. Although as someone who has adopted a child if one of my children ended their life this way, the LAST thing I would be concerned about is pointing out how because we have different genes I wasn't to blame. I would just be devastated.

It is a sad situation that she was obviously so deep in depression that suicide seemed reasonable. My point was just to say how sad it is that a life many would envy, the person living it would chose to end. We never really know all that is going on behind the Instagram feeds....and that a child who is adopted becomes the CHILD of that family and they are just parents not 'adoptive' parents. In my opinion to keep pointing out the adoption in this way is derogatory and implies the parents aren't really parents or that the child isn't really a part of that family.

I'm finally ready to start sharing the stories from our trip to the Dominican Republic, with Compassion International.  This one is about our visit with Jhon Henry and what I learned about the other children waiting for sponsorship.

Raising boys has added adventure to my life. I don't think I'd have ever done much less tried the things I now love had it not been for our boys.
