Good morning! I’m diffusing citrus essential oils to help me feel energized, alert, and focused at the beginning of my day.

And when it’s time for bed, the blend in this video recipe always helps me calm down: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5xOMhZAJZQ

Add a tablespoon of jojoba to this blend to be extra skin-safe.

Aromatherapy baths are such a simple, luxurious way to use essential oils. All you have to do is add your essential oils to some bath salt and jojoba and add them to your bath water. This blend is enough for two baths.

In this blog post, I explain why it’s important to use salt, jojoba, or another carrier when adding essential oils to your bath. (It protects your skin!) http://www.aromahead.com/blog/2014/11/24/3-ways-use-essential-oils-bath/

Do your drawers ever smell musty? Essential oils can help with that! It doesn’t take much—just a few drops on a cotton ball can go a long way toward making your drawers (and the clothes in them) smell so good.

Essential oils can also help repel bugs, and since your skin loves them they’re a safe alternative to store-bought bug repellents:http://bit.ly/1g3DAdC

Citrus paradisi . . . even Grapefruit’s Latin name sounds divine, doesn’t it? It has a beautiful, sparkling aroma that’s perfect for uplifting diffuser blends.

This post from the Aromahead Blog tells you all about Grapefruit, with a few recipe suggestions that let its sparkling personality shine: http://www.aromahead.com/blog/2010/05/28/grapefruit/

Lavender, Peppermint, and Roman Chamomile threw a party . . . and pain and inflammation were not invited! (But I definitely want to go to that party!)

If you’ve never used Trauma Oil, I think you’re going to love it for pain relief. It’s an infusion of three herbs in a carrier oil (usually olive oil): arnica, St. John’s wort, and calendula. It’s very healing even without essential oils added.

It’s also great for helping bruises heal. Here’s a link to a bruise recipe that’s popular with people who tend to bump their legs on tables a lot! http://www.aromahead.com/blog/2015/05/18/try-helichrysum-lavender-essential-oils-bruises/

Do you experience joint pain? It’s no fun! Essential oils can help. Here’s a blend that can help reduce inflammation in and around your joints.

You can also add the essential oils to a carrier called kombo butter (instead of Trauma Oil), which is known for easing joint pain all by itself. It makes an excellent base for pain relief blends. Here’s a blog post where you can read more about kombo butter: http://www.aromahead.com/blog/2016/04/04/avo-kombo-feel-better-butter/

One of my favorite things to do is visit essential oil distillers and small scale farmers who grow aromatic plants. It makes me feel in touch with the oils, the plants, and the people who make Aromatherapy possible!

I visited a Helichrysum distiller and was even given the privilege of helping to help harvest it by hand. Here’s a picture that I shared on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/BEMQ9tLmjfj/?taken-by=aromahead

Are you an essential oil newbie? Want to learn which oils support immunity, which are great for skin care, and what the best (and safest) ways are to use them? Try Aromahead’s popular Introduction to Essential Oils class! It’s essential oils 101!
http://aromahead.com/courses/online/introduction-to-essential-oils

And by the way . . . a few great oils for immunity are Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus), Frankincense (Boswellia carterii), and Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia).

Clean your hands without a sink! You can make this blend in a 2 oz (60 ml) PET plastic bottle with a flip-top (which is sometimes called a “disc-top”). I recommend making a fresh bottle every few weeks.

Another version of this hand cleanser is made with Black Spruce and Lavender. I like to use that one when I’m traveling, but you can use either one you like! Here's that blend: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/2533343519355655/

Aromatherapy inhalers are so easy to make and so convenient to use anytime, anywhere! An inhaler is about the size of a lip balm tube, and inside is a cotton insert that absorbs your essential oils. You don’t have to set up a diffuser at work. Just use your inhaler! We have an entire Pinterest board full of inhaler recipes: https://www.pinterest.com/aromahead/inhalers/
