Heads up, podcasters. Advertising guidelines for podcasts from the IAB.

I recently added SSL to my podcast website. Now, none of the directories are updating with the latest episodes. (This includes iTunes and Stitcher.) How do I fix this?? Any advice is most welcome (and desperately needed). Thanks!

It's official, folks.

There is so little activity on Google+ these days -- exacerbated by Google's continued decoupling of G+ services (like Hangouts on Air) that I'm moving the community to a new Facebook group.

Please join me there:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1797710433833657/

It's a public group, so just follow/join it. With luck, we can return to the more robust conversations we once enjoyed here.

And thanks for all your support!

Episode 49 of the ‪#‎FIR‬ Podcast is ready for your listening pleasure. And a real pleasure it will be, too, with the voices of Rachel Miller, Katie Paine, and Jen Zingsheim Phillips. Katie, by the way, was in Rio to watch her cousin take a bronze medal, so we had no choice but to talk about Ryan Lochte's crisis, along with another you probably haven't heard about. We also covered how companies in the UK are preparing (or not) to communicate the impact of Brexit on their operations, whether PR needs to bill based on wins instead of hours, why companies should listen to employee ideas, and the imminent rule that will require companies to report their CEO-to-worker pay ratio. Dan York's report covers the latest WordPress upgrade, Twitter's notification changes, and the growth of IPv6.

It's a great joy to interview old friends on the FIR Interviews podcast. I got to do just that yesterday with Peter Vogt, who's now running Employee Communications and Experience for Madrid-based BBVA. We talked mostly about the short, weekly, audio-optional news brief video, "What Just Happened," but also about the merger of communication and experience responsibilities.

features three former IABC chairs: Michael Ambjorn (2015-16), founder of UK-based Align Your Org; Dr. Barbara Gibson (2008-09), principal of Cultural Resolution and lecturer at the University of London; and Brad Whitworth (1989-90), senior marketing and communication manager for the global partner organization at Cisco Systems. Our discussion topics for the day include a look at the furor over a series of culturally insensitive Snapchat filters, the importance of time off (and how employees who don’t feel work-life balance is taken seriously are leaving their companies), the rise of text-message journalism (and whether it will lead to text-message brand journalism), how much text messaging is too much, Pokémon Go’s role in speeding up consumer acceptance of Virtual and Augmented Reality, and whether social media is to blame for the widening chasm between front-line staff and senior executives. Dan York’s report includes an update on Instagram Stories vs. Snapchat Stories, and more.

Today’s panel features Stealthmode Partners’ Francine Hardaway, Stone Temple Consulting’s Doug Haslam, and Alabama Power’s Ike Pigott. We talked about a report from pwc (Price Waterhouse Coopers) identified eight technologies that are about to have a massive global impact across all business sectors. We looked at the communications implications for each of the eight, which include Artifical Intelligence, Augmented Reality, drones, the Internet of Things, robots, Virtual Reality, 3D printing, and blockchain; the suspension of Saatchi & Saatchi’s chairman after he uttered a statement worth of Donald Trump (whom we just can seem to avoid mentioning these days); media fallout from the Brexit vote, whether company marketers should emulate Donald Trump’s marketers, and more.
