Data Protection/Cyber Security is a mindset and here are the 10 actions points to consider:

Check if you need to register for DPA - https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/register/self-assessment/ – have you renewed if is previously registered
Consent is at the heart of GDPR (and PECR) - check your consents in every aspect of your business – do you need to update and ask for more consent – see guidelines at https://ico.org.

Anyone who is labouring under this mis-apprehension that data protection fines for website security breaches are only for big companies should think again! It emerged on 27th June 2017 that the Information Commissioner's Office has issued a fine of £60,000 to a Berkshire based company,Boomerang Video Ltd , for failing to take basic steps to prevent its website from being hacked.

Over 26,000 customer records were exposed to the hackers, when they struck in 2014.

Search engine optimisation is like canvasing votes in an election to promote your business.

Our individual votes do not have a big impact but when lots of people vote for one candidate then those votes make an important difference to whether that candidate is first past the post.

Team Discovery is pleased to launch a new peer-to-peer lending website for our client “Alternative Finance Business Loans (AFBL)”….

Website URL: https://www.alternativefinance.loans/

Many of our own clients may benefit from the P2P lending services of AFBL.

It is interesting to note that since 2010 P2P funding has allowed businesses to bypasses the banks and borrow money directly from individuals.

Why CESG - now part of the NCSC - decided to advise against this long-established security guideline.

Regular password expiry is a common requirement in many security policies. However, in the Password Guidance published in 2015, we explicitly advised against it. This article explains why we made this (for many) unexpected recommendation, and why we think it’s the right way forward.
