Think about how urban areas can become more #bikable and #walkable and therefore more safe and #livable with this simple innovation (vs the expense of adding more streetlights).
 
Beyond just looking awesome, these glow-in-the-dark roads will make driving at night safer, while also eliminating (or at least, greatly reducing) the need for streetlights.
It might look like something out of a sci-fi movie, but a Dutch engineering firm has successfully created a “smart highway” with glow-in-the-dark roads. Lego’s Mindstorm robots (or education and innovation kits as they are sometimes known) were developed in collaboration with MIT Media Lab as a solution for education and training in the mid to late 90’s.
