This, right here is what we all need to do more of!
From the article:
"But what I discovered was that if I didn't silence the person, and instead asked some questions, talked their comment through, then extended their joking metaphor to a point they never intended, or more to the point, didn't understand they were making -- those kids that made the "joke" realized that their punchline wasn't funny. Through that unpacking they realized why I didn't want them to say those things, and what they were actually saying. Furthermore, the rest of my students in class understood too. I didn't need to have that conversation with thirty kids. Just a few. And the jokes for the most part stopped. It wasn't about shaming someone, but helping that student, and all students in the class understand why something is an issue."

The dates for the 2016 Peaky Midwest LARP writing workshop are going to be April 15th through 17th and registration is now open! :)
Psychic Detective Agency is a freeform that relies heavily on improv techniques. While I'd really, really like to play (Please!), I don't know if I know enough people in meatspace who are up for that sort of game and also live near me. Maybe I'll try to talk people into it at Intercon.
The writer (or at least one of them) was clearly up to speed on a bunch of the stuff going on in indie games and the American Freeform movement. The game description text would benefit from slightly more redundancy in how the ideas are organized, but this is seriously a small quibble. It has a beautiful extended example of play and some great notes on the material they drew from while working on it.
In some ways this reminds me of a much lighter weight version of Sue's noir detective game ( http://www.interactiveliterature.org/N/Schedule.php?action=25&EventId=495 ).

I've been reading some by titles that look interesting and some by using +Christopher Weeks random selection sheet ( https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ABnRAmBIKU4JXpUNCKI8H0YeKMTtmVb85kdhdhFPuRw/edit?usp=sharing ).
Here's what I've looked at and had thoughts on so far:
I was pretty meh on Langer Memorial Trauma Center up until I got to the part where they talk about possible genres and suggested M*A*S*H. I can't express how perfect this game would be for M*A*S*H. I bet the emergent behavior of the players would mirror all sorts of things that actually happened in the show. <3
I feel like I need to have read Dog Eat Dog to make any judgment on The Spirit of Nations. I get this feeling that there is some good stuff in Spirit, but I don't know how to feel about how amazingly hand wavy a lot of the creation procedures are. I would definitely want some First Nations people's opinions on whether they think it would yield compelling variations on their cultural experiences vs something annoyingly stereotyped. (Also the insistence that the world "can be anything" is... well I dislike that kind of "multi-tool" game. I much prefer the style of building creativity guiding procedures to help people narrow in on the sort of content you want them to create.)
Shinobi Village looks adorable. Sadly I have never been into this genre of anime, so I don't think I'm going to appreciate any of the nuances of the game.
State Cinema reminds me a lot of Papers Please. If you are into highly chaotic and slightly hilarious improv with dark undertones you will probably like this. I appreciate how much they got into the setting themes they built up and I think the family support aspect is probably necessary. Sadly the family support aspect and the "put the player on the spot" mentality are also why I will never play this game. (I see a good game there, but it is not a good game for me.)
Mixtapes and Mistakes... love the title and the premise forcibly reminds me of the movie Heathers. I uh, am finding that my eyes glaze over any time a game is set in a high school though, so I don't think I have the stamina to read through all of this.
Zen Flashback Battle Zero has a great concept. I think it's probably too crunchy for me to evaluate on paper alone, I'd need to try the mechanics to get a feeling for how well they work. I love the examples of play they give though, great stuff.
Fear of the Dark has a fascinating setting. I could see this being a good game to play on Halloween.
I have found the first game that I'm unambiguously excited about. Blue Shift, OMG, it is amazingly random, but I love the setting and it sounds like a lot of light, fluffy fun. This is space Gamma World on steroids. <3

Here's the final form of The Raven Queen's Woods.
I really enjoyed the competition and look forward to doing it again some time! :)

Transmission seems to be one of the spiritual successors to Microscope, but it brings something different that is something I dearly want in games. Transmission is a mystery game (even though it never uses the word mystery to describe itself).
This game has a lot of promise. I would really like to play it and see if the campaign version holds together.

The Rending of the Veil really wowed me with the setting and the elegance of the rules. I think the translated their inspirational material into something new and utterly beautiful. I want to play this.
Bonus points for the lovely cover image with a woman of color. <3

So Bonds. Like DW bonds, but for a slightly different set of PCs.
Do people have any suggestions for making writing blank bonds easier? I have to write like 36 of the darn things (6 each for 6 different characters), and I'm rather intimidated by this task at the moment.

I've sent my first draft in. If anyone wants to look I've linked the pdf. It's not a super original idea (especially after reading some of the games posted on here... I'm feeling like perhaps I should have gone more outside the box). Hopefully it's amusing. :)
