"Since an upgrade will not occur on a national level via presidential pen stroke or SCOTUS decision, you have to take it upon yourself to be an infinitely fantastic person every single day. There will be times when it will be a bitch to be so awesome, but you’ll handle it. This century will be about incredible individuals. Bold acts of kindness and a genuine desire to at least try to see things from someone else’s perspective are but two of the mandatory requirements for betterment moving forward."

I’m an educated, Caucasian, heterosexual male. Does this ensure I will have success? No, but it damn sure drops me on second base.

Sobering:
Trump’s views are “the kind of thinking that caused our incarceration, and once that genie is released from the bottle, there’s no telling what forms it will take,” Shimizu continued. “Yeah, we’re right on the brink of it — apparently because his base seems to agree with all of that.”

Science talk!

It's time for science talk: do you want to help Scientific American grading the Presidential Candidates answers? "Our plan is to grade the answers on a pass/fail basis, using the following three questions as a guide: Does the answer address the question asked? Is it well informed with respect to scientific consensus about the issue? Does the response offer specific, workable details? Please e-mail your responses to editors@sciam.com with the words “Science Debate 2016” in the subject line."
Clinton, Trump and Stein answer 20 top questions about science, engineering, technology, health and environmental issues

The media have a responsibility to consider publication in every single case he wrote. This right and duty, which all editors in the world have, should not be undermined by algorithms encoded in your office in California.

Editors cannot live with you, Mark, as a master editor.

Amen to this. Of course this calls for sharing the news and the incriminated image*. The only outrageous and offensive thing I see here is War.

*it seems that the FB ban was lifted following the outrage. We sit and wait for the next arbitrary, technocracy-ruled censorship scandal to happen again.

Opportunity: daily meme digest for busy people with productive lives outside the inter-webs. Avoid misunderstandings with handy glossary. Know in advance how your perfectly reasonable English will be misunderstood in the daily meme churn. <caramba> It is fun sometimes but quickly becomes exhausting.

Good news!
While mid-sized restaurants will have access to the new hub, poorer communities will also see the benefits of kale salads.

This is important : UCS steps in on AGU accepting corporate sponsorship from ExxonMobil.
Faced with important choices about maintaining and enhancing revenue in an era of tight budgets, the Board of the American Geophysical Union (AGU)–the world's largest society of earth and space scientists–established last year an organizational support policy to guide decision-making about the ...

At fifteen seconds after 9:41 a.m., on September 11, 2001, a photographer named Richard Drew took a picture of a man falling through the sky—falling through time as well as through space. The picture went all around the world, and then disappeared, as if we willed it away. One of the most famous photographs in human history became an unmarked grave, and the man buried inside its frame—the Falling Man—became the Unknown Soldier in a war whose end we have not yet seen. Richard Drew's photograph is all we know of him, and yet all we know of him becomes a measure of what we know of ourselves. The picture is his cenotaph, and like the monuments dedicated to the memory of unknown soldiers everywhere, it asks that we look at it, and make one simple acknowledgment.
Do you remember this photograph? In the United States, people have taken pains to banish it from the record of September 11, 2001. The story behind it, though, and the search for the man pictured in it, are our most intimate connection to the horror of that day.

"When I heard the learn'd astronomer
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me,
When I was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them,
When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured with
Much applause in the lecture room,
How soon unaccountable I became tired and sick,
Till rising and gliding out I'd wander'd off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
Look'd up in perfect silence at the stars."
(Walt Whitman)

"That's my secret Cap, I'm always angry."
