Catering Services, Vegetarian, Gluten-free, Vegan, Bread made from Scratch.

Planet Sub Austin is not your ordinary sandwich shop. Serving delicious sandwiches on homemade, fresh bread that is baked daily, salads, soups, lettuce wraps, and tortilla wraps.
Looking for gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan options? We've got you covered.
Are you hosting an event? Call us for catering and boxed lunches.

Most sub shops hope you won’t notice their bread because it’s frozen. At Planet Sub, we know that every sandwich needs a strong foundation -- and in the case of our fresh-made sandwiches, we could never settle for less than fresh-baked bread made from scratch.
The Food
Even though we craft our food quickly for the convenience of our customers, we take care when creating our menu and selecting ingredients. Our bread is baked daily for top freshness, and our ingredients are at their peak. We’re passionate about creating our food, and it shows.
  • Vegetarian: We believe in crafting vegetarian food that’s diverse and delicious, never boring or bland.
  • Vegan: At Planet Sub, we respect the vegan lifestyle and recognize how difficult it can be to maintain a vegan diet -- especially when you’re in a hurry. We make it easy to keep eating clean by including an array of savory vegan sandwiches on our menu.
  • Gluten-Free: Searching for low carb or gluten free options, look no further! Options include our filling full-leaf romaine wraps, low carb tortilla wraps, and even homemade gluten free bread at certain locations. Keep in mind that all bread served in our restaurants is 100% vegan, free of azodicarbonamide.
An event catered by Planet Sub -- sounds awesome, right? From corporate meetings and rehearsal dinners to backyard birthday parties and charity events, we can do it all -- and we guarantee the same freshness, flavor, and authenticity you expect from Planet Sub when our subs are prepared en masse.

Choose from a variety of party trays, including Sub, Soups, Salad, and cookie trays!

Have a corporate event to cater? Here’s what your crew will be greeted with when they open their box lunches from Planet Sub!
A delicious, fresh-made sub
A bag of chips (eat ‘em on the sandwich, on the side, or save ‘em for later -- whatever you please)
A pickle (for good measure)
A fresh-baked cookie (can’t forget dessert!)
An ice-cold bottled beverage (if you so choose)

What are you waiting for? Call Planet Sub Austin and order today!

Allow me to begin by saying that the food is outstanding. The "Torpedo" was one of the best subs I've found in Austin. Well crafted with fresh ingredients on toasted fresh bread. Delicious. I had no problem eating the entire giant full-sized sandwich, though i certainly could have gotten by with a half. On to the staff... We (6 of us) arrived during SXSW at 8:55pm (they close at 9). I can understand a little frustration from the crew if they've already cleaned up, counted the register, etc. I get it. However, when we walked in, the plump blonde boy behind the register (henceforth known as "Blondie") promptly exhibited a facial expression that implied he'd just witnessed the horrors of the apocalypse. He said that they were closing in 5 minutes and asked us if we'd be ordering to-go. He began taking our orders but was quickly relieved by a patient, professional man with long hair who gave us the best service we'd ever received at any sub shop. He was kind, attentive, and not in any kind of hurry to do anything but his job. Back to Blondie... As he reluctantly resumed his duties in the kitchen, we were filled with joy that this fine establishment featured a kitchen with a window. Blondie would think twice before "adding his own flair" to traditional Plant Sub recipes. Unfortunately, this meant that we had to endure the sad sight of a full-grown man-boy making sandwiches with a somberness surpassed only by the remembrance of the Holocaust. Out of pity, we offered a $20 tip in exchange for a smile from Blondie. No such luck. Blondie wanted to get out of there as badly as we did, so our sandwiches came out quickly. We had a unique circumstance, which is why I gave a star rating based on food quality and the great service from the guy with the long hair - perhaps this man was Jesus himself. The sandwiches were really good, but perhaps that was only because they were generously seasoned with Blondie's broken dreams.

So this is like a fast food/counter service sub shop. Quality is probably only three stars, but for what it is, it's pretty great. They have SO many kinds of sandwiches and even tempeh (I'm obsessed with the tempeh parmesan.) The people who work at this location are really nice, too.

You might think "Does downtown Austin need another sub shop sandwiched between Quiznos, Jimmy John's, and Subway?" I've made a few visits to Planet Sub and the answer is yes. You'll pay a little more at Planet Sub and wait a little longer, but oh man is it worth it. The time they take to toast the sandwiches properly really pays off because the whole thing gets the perfect blend of hot meat, melty cheese, and bread that is nicely crisp on the outside but still chewy through out. And I'm really impressed with the breadth of their menu. So many different meats and cheeses that you just don't find at your typical chain. And 9 creative vegetarian options if your'e into that sort of thing.
