Enjoyed a delicious, early dinner for two. The cocktail menu is creative without being silly. We loved the ceviche (fresh ingredients!) and gnocchi w/ duck sugo as appetizers. We were wanting autumn-like food, so we went with the duck (best ever!) and the pork chop (where the fat was rendered as deliciously as the meat) with mushrooms sautéed in chorizo. Both dishes were excellent. Lots of other intriguing items on the menu that would be worth exploring on a return visit: extensive sake selection, several Italian half-bottles, the cod that seems to be a fan favorite.

Had dinner here with a few friends. Great environment, the black cod with shiso leave was fantastic, but the rest is about average.

We tried to reserve a table on a Friday night before foie gras is banned in CA. The lovely lady on the phone could not find us a table, so she suggested that we come anyways and enjoy the bar area. We were not disappointed. The bar is a relaxed, casual dining experience, and if you ask nicely, they will serve you the full menu- not the bar only menu. My only complaint is that it is not the best place to go on a first date. The bar gets pretty lively-- making it difficult to have a intimate conversation.

This place is amazing, it really is. I had the privilege of sampling some of my dinner-mates' meals. We had the crudo, the gnocchi, the NY strip, and of course, the black cod. We also ordered a few cocktails. Everything from the atmosphere, to the waitstaff, to the flavor pairings were incredible. It's definitely worth the 5 stars, but I'd take half-a-star off if I could because I found a bone in my black cod. Still, it was the best black cod I've ever had.

the signature black cod is still fantastic. go with the wait-staff recommendations if you want to avoid the less stellar dishes. they were all very honest about what was great and not so on the menu. we let the sommelier pair sake and wine for our numerous dishes. he did a superb job, even giving us extra tastes of other wines he thought we would enjoy. it goes to show that if you work with the staff, you can get the best out of a restaurant.
