Why Television Law Firms Are Often Settlement Mills That Are Loved By Insurance Carriers

What is a Personal Injury Settlement Mill?
A personal injury settlement mill is a high volume law practice that attempts to mass produce the settlement of injury claims while utilizing aggressive advertising campaigns in an effort to obtain clients. Settlement mills litigate a disproportionate amount of their cases and take very few cases to trial. Such firms can be routinely found advertising on television during both daytime and late night. There are exceptions to the rule and not every firm that aggressively advertises is a mill. However, a majority of such firms are mills characterized by minimal interaction between the attorneys and their clients.
Law Professor Nora Engstrom published a fascinating article in the May 2010 issue of the Stanford Law Review, entitled “Run of the Mill Justice.” Engstrom interviews numerous attorneys and staff members at law firms throughout the country that fit the description of being a settlement mill.

Fatigue And Doctors Don't Mix

You’ve probably heard the horror stories from medical residents, if not seen it dramatized on television. Thirty-six-hour night shifts on top of emergency surgeries don’t always turn out well for patients. Vehophobia _ Fear Of Driving After Car Accident

The fear of driving after a car accident is technically a form of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). People suffer from PTSD for all kinds of reasons, including motor vehicle accidents. This can be set off by the trauma of almost dying (or thinking you might die), the trauma of injuring your children, or just the violence of the event in general. It really can be caused—and triggered—by any multitude of things.

Hit & Run Car Accident - What Are The Consequences?

In 2015 alone, there were more than 92,000 hit and run crashes in the state, resulting in more than 19,000 injuries. This high number is also an indication that the problem needs to be dealt with according as the number of such crashes is up by nearly 7,500 from 2014. In addition, more than half of the 186 hit-and-run deaths involved pedestrians. Drivers fled the scene in about 25 percent of pedestrian crashes according to highway patrol. Last year, 18-27 year olds were charged with more than a third of all hit and run crashes, 70 percent of which were issued to males. As a result of the spike in incidents, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSV) recognizes February 15-19, 2016 as High and Run Awareness Week in an effort to highlight the impacts of leaving the scene of a crash and reduce the number of hit and run crashes in Florida.

One good thing that can be said about the personal injury claim process is that it almost always follows a logical and predictable path—step by step.
