What happens in a session with a Psychologist?
Psychology sessions begin with an assessment, which involves the psychologist spending some time to assess and understand your situation. Once you have completed the initial assessment, your psychologist will work with you to implement specific evidence-based techniques.
Our Psychologists are trained professionals with expert knowledge and clinical skills. Through close support, they strive to help you implement skills that bring about lasting change. Psychologists aim to build a supportive and empathetic relationship with each client. Both Glenda and Therrie, actively listening to and strive to understand your unique situation, emotions, feelings, thoughts, beliefs, behaviours and actions. Are you interested in taking a holistic approach to weight loss?

With so many weight loss programs on the market it can be confusing to choose the one that is right for you.
Our weight loss program has been formulated with the ultimate goal of healthy weight loss. With the help of a qualified Nutritionist we can help get you on track.
Our fully customised weight loss program  may include the use of:

Easy, tasty meal plans
Weekly or fortnightly weigh and measure session
Nutritional formulations to assist reduce sugar cravings
Protein supplementation in the form of either shakes, soups or bars
Pathology testing to ascertain if there are any other physical contributing factors

Why choose our program?

We assess your bodies organs and hormones that regulate metabolism
We provide strategies to reduce cravings
Our Nutritionist is able to work around your “style” of eating. No green smoothies if you don’t like green smoothies! 🙂
The program is designed to lose weight at a steady pace to keep it off
The style of eating is maintaining and easy to incorporate into everyday life
It is all personal and one to one, no awkward group meetings

What is the benefit of seeing our Practitioners for weight loss?
We view the body as a whole system and not just concentrate on weight loss. Often there is a hormone imbalance that prevents the person from losing weight, or there is an emotional component that needs addressing.

Our Practitioners may choose to use the tools of pathology testing, nutritional supplementation and/or herbal medicine to help achieve your goal weight.

The program generally runs for 2 months. However, it can be extended depending on your needs.

For the first month you will see your consultant weekly and then after that every 2 weeks. At each session you will be weighed, measured and complete a dietary reassessment. These are quick 15 minute sessions and cost only $30 per session, longer sessions are available if needed. You will keep a food diary in between consultations.

Weight loss consultations start at just $30 per consultation. If you have private health insurance, your rebate may cover a large portion of this fee.

Updated Post: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Irritable Bowel Syndrome, commonly known as IBS, is a functional gastrointestinal disorder that affects approximately 1 in 5 Australians.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome is known to cause signs and symptoms such as altered bowel movements (diarrhoea, constipation or swinging between both), pain and cramping, and bloating.
Did you know that bacteria imbalance is a common culprit?
People with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) usually have lowered levels of beneficial bacteria, including bifidobacteria and lactobacillus, and high levels of ‘bad’ bacteria, including Enterobacteriaceae. Restoring the good bacteria can significantly improve quality of life, promote regular bowel motions, and reduce signs and symptoms, such as pain. There are specific strains of bacteria that have been clinically found to provide greater benefit to IBS patients. This means that choosing any probiotic off the shelf may not provide the same relief as a probiotic that has been specifically developed for IBS.
Many people know there is food reacting but are not sure what!
These are foods that cause an inflammatory response in the gut when they are consumed. It is hard to resolve any signs and symptoms when these foods are constantly being consumed and irritating the gut lining. As part of an effective treatment plan, we recommend identifying the reactive foods (common ones are gluten and FODMAPs, however, other foods can also be a problem), and removing them from the diet for a period of time while we work to repair the gut lining and balance the bacteria. Through testing we are able to identify food reactions, these are usually different to allergies.
We often hear about the connection between the gut and the brain and in IBS this is common.
There is a significant link between IBS and stress. Patients commonly report worsening of IBS symptoms when they are feeling stressed. Naturopathic treatment of IBS always addresses the nervous system, to reduce levels of stress and the effect that stress has on the body, and improve any underlying conditions such as anxiety and depression. Herbal medicine has been shown to be beneficial in the management of IBS. Herbs called adaptogens help to boost the body’s resilience to the effects of stress, and other herbs, such as anxiolytics, can help to reduce symptoms of anxiety.
The best approach to permanent correction?
It’s hard to know exactly what is going on in the gut, as signs and symptoms for IBS can be similar to other digestive problems, such as IBD. Testing is absolutely necessary to ensure a thorough assessment. A comprehensive stool assessment can reveal a number of things about the health of the gut, such as dysbiosis (altered gut flora), the presence of yeasts and parasites, inflammation, and leaky gut. With this information, our Naturopaths develop a targeted treatment plan that is effective and specific to the individual, ensuring the best health outcomes for the patient.
We welcome all new clients to book a FREE NATUROPATHIC ASSESSMENT CONSULTATION. You will learn potential root causes specific to you and gain an understanding of treatment of IBS so you can be symptom free.
