This is a great article.

Say what you will of +Dan Kaminsky, but he is one of the brightest minds on the subject of the Domain Name System, which is a key part of the recent glibc exploit (CVE-2015-7547). He's among a group of people working to really wrap their brains around the scope of this bug.

This is a good read.

The illustration here is a map of Ubuntu's dependencies. The map will be similar for pretty much any GNU/Linux distribution, though. The single black pixel at the middle of it all is systemd. Haha I'm just kidding it's glibc but systemd and almost everything else on GNU/Linux relies on glibc in some way.
TL;DR: The glibc DNS bug (CVE-2015-7547) is unusually bad. Even Shellshock and Heartbleed tended to affect things we knew were on the network and knew we had to defend. This affects a universall...

Regarding login.conf the OpenBSD man page does not specify if datasize is per login, per application or cumulative in that login. Can someone point me to the correct source to learn about this? Thank you.

Introduction
Slackware and OpenBSD are my favorites. Yes I use others, notably OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, but I hate the systemD trend. Amateur Radio where I hold an extra class license and try to never transmit with more than 20 watts. I managed to snag a keeper wife on the first try and if she ever leaves me I'm going with her.
Bragging rights
Accurately predicting systemD eventually replacing su in 2013. It is coming to pass in Fedora 24.
