So if you setup TomatoUSB on your router with an integrated SSL VPN server, you can connect your Android device to it, too (so long as it supports OpenVPN). To do so, first install OpenVPN. Setup the basic settings like you normally would, and import the certificates. Be sure to disable 'Except TLS Server' and 'Use TLS Authentication'. Here's a few screen grabs of my config that worked OK. Further testing is imminent. If don't have an unlimited data plan, I would use this VPN sparingly.
