Watched John Wick (2014)
That's a great action film. Love it. Keen to see the sequel now.

Watched The Raid (2017 TV Episode)
Wow. I don't remember the characters over explaining everything so much in the previous series.

Watched 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)
I enjoyed that although it didn't end up the way I expected. Love the story and the story instead of going sequel or prequel. Quite tense and surprising at times.

Watched Hardcore Henry (2015)
I really enjoyed that. Innovative, fun, crazy with no apologies, and the most amazing stunts and action sequences. A wild ride. Plus there's something of a story there and a few surprises on the way. Much more than I expected.

Watched Passengers (2016)
I was a little disappointed in this after reading the script. Too much concentrating on the romantic elements and racing through the dramatic final act. Then a couple of cinematic clichés that all the audience know and just shouldn't be in films anymore. Still. Good fun. Even if Lawrence wasn't giving her best at times. Garcia, how much did get paid for that?!

Watched West Side Story (1961)
Is it a sad reflection of how western society can't fix some key problems, of how cleverly written this film is, or both that this film is incredibly relevant for so many issues in and out of America?

Watched The East (2013)
That was rather good. The ending flash forward montage wasn't that good but the rest of the film was. Good performances.

Watched Secret in Their Eyes (2015)
I've seen the original some time back and had forgotten the story, so I thought this would have more impact. The performances are fantastic though, especially Roberts and Ejiofor, and I do like Kidman playing a darker character. Their interactions and story are strong, it's just the ending that didn't have the power of the original. It played out rather than pulled me in. Still, a great story and superb performances.

Watched Rogue One (2016)
You know, it's good, very good, but is it as great as people say it is? I'm not so sure. I thought the early introduction scenes leapt from planet to planet and I didn't feel connected to the story for a little while. When it did get going I felt the connections to the previous films, and not just in characters and plot but in the feeling, in the emotion, in the force. While the final act had lots to marvel at in terms of effects, action and tension, there wasn't anything particularly new. In fact a couple of times I rolled my eyes, there were some clichéd moments for sure. Still epic though, and much less of a Disney film than I'd feared, much less than any of the Lucas prequels that's for sure.
