It felt like hell froze over, KDE software being praised for looking beautiful, something that would have been unimaginable a few years ago ;)

http://blog.broulik.de/2016/04/kde-at-the-augsburger-linux-infotag-2/
On Saturday, 16 April I had the honor of representing KDE at the 15. Augsburger Linux-Tag, one of the oldest and largest Linux gatherings in southern Germany. Konqi guarding the KDE booth. It was my first time attending such an event and it was a great experience.

One simple way to think about this is to remember that we design interfaces for those who can't see.

Design encompasses the way a tool's functionality is presented and utilized - sometimes this requires a stronger focus on visual elements and how they relate to input methods and user expectations. There are many overlapping areas of interest within this relationship.

Those expectations aren't necessarily drawn from previous experiences with computers, but also from how human brains have tried to organize the physical world for eons. It's a combination of bending to the irrational whims of human biology and offering to gracefully educate the user when their natural inclinations fall short.

Little convenience feature that just landed and emerged form a different patch by a new contributor, closing a 7 year old feature request:

Klipper plasmoid now highlights leading and trailing whitespace characters.

+Google Maps Seriously, it prefers going 10 km to the highway, driving on it for 2 and driving another 10 to the destination rather than just staying the fuck off the highway. And with new Google Navigation there's no way you can prevent that. (At least not when navigation has already started)

Fun fact: Plasma sprints used to be called "Tokamak".

http://blog.broulik.de/2016/02/outside-the-stellarator/
After having spent a great deal of time improving Plasma, I recently focussed on other ares of our workspace, such as KRunner, and various KDE Applications. Plasma Desktop with KRunner Plasma Desktop and KRunner with a cleaner look. One of my favorite and most frequently used tools is KRunner, ...

Watching a video that's labeled "4K" when it doesn't look sharp.

Just 4k monitor user things.

Yeah if the YouTube Android app didn't always discard any data that has been buffered when leaving the app (lock the screen, phone call coming in, quickly text back), I wouldn't see the spinner at all.

In new +Google Maps how can I add custom markers (ie stars to the map)? I used to be able to long-press an arbitrary point on the map and mark it, now all I can do is share the shit out of it and the link I share says "No results found". Comeon, Google, stop making awesome services sucking.
