The German word for horse meat is actually just the words for "horse" and "meat" stuck together without a space in between. Like most complicated German words.

I did some stuff.

There's more, actually, but I was too tired to write it all down, as you can probably tell by the lack of screenshots inside. ;)

Plasma 5.8 will be our first long term support release of Plasma 5 and together with Qt 5.6 also being an LTS release this makes for a rock-solid combo. Starting to love this neon thing.

Previously I would have been locked out from newer Qt versions for years almost.

It felt like hell froze over, KDE software being praised for looking beautiful, something that would have been unimaginable a few years ago ;)

On Saturday, 16 April I had the honor of representing KDE at the 15. Augsburger Linux-Tag, one of the oldest and largest Linux gatherings in southern Germany. Konqi guarding the KDE booth. It was my first time attending such an event and it was a great experience.

One simple way to think about this is to remember that we design interfaces for those who can't see.

Design encompasses the way a tool's functionality is presented and utilized - sometimes this requires a stronger focus on visual elements and how they relate to input methods and user expectations. There are many overlapping areas of interest within this relationship.

Those expectations aren't necessarily drawn from previous experiences with computers, but also from how human brains have tried to organize the physical world for eons. It's a combination of bending to the irrational whims of human biology and offering to gracefully educate the user when their natural inclinations fall short.
