This is the American Civil War Museum in Richmond, Virginia which I visited very briefly when I went to the Smile Conference a couple of weeks ago to receive my 'Top Cop' social media award. I was really pleased to find this for 2 reasons. My dad is 80 and has an obsession with the American Civil War. He also spent most of his life working in the iron and steel industry. This museum is built on what used to be the iron works that provided the iron for the munitions for the Confederate army. I was able to buy a really good book in the gift shop all about the role the iron works played in the war and I was so thrilled as it covers the 2 things my dad is most passionate about. I cant wait to give him the book!

He loved it Lauri. Was so pleased we found that place. My Dad loves his history and is proud of his background in the iron and steel industry. Perfect gift for him :)

Met the most lovely couple at the Glamis Extraveganza today. They were from Brora and had a Bedford camper van which was over 40 years old and was immaculate. They bought it from new and have been the sole owners. They were so proud of their van and were full of stories about their travels all over the UK. It even has a book in it detailing every night they had spent in the camper van. It was the highlight of the day to see an elderly couple so happy and proud and to top it all it won the best vehicle over 40 years in the whole show. Still smiling thinking about it

More photos of that amazing camper van owned by 2 lovely people (I didn't get their names). All original panels and never been re painted, just rustproofed from new, polished regularly and cherished all its life!

I love life and enjoy challenging myself to improve with age like all good things do! I have been a serving police officer for 32 years and am proud to have served in British policing at every rank up to the executive level. I love to be around positive and enthusiastic people, especially when we feed off each others creative energies and the ideas flow! Looking forward to the next exciting chapter of my professional life whatever that may be.
