"On our last full day in George we had the handover ceremony. A large number of the community gathered to join in the celebrations and there was singing, dancing and speeches before the keys were handed over to Todd and Brian. This was a very emotional moment for all involved and a lovely end to our time in George."

"What an experience we had with the community of George in Ndola. The joy and welcome we received from the community was extremely humbling, from playing football with kids to learning about Zambian culture, we got a real insight into the day-to-day lives of the local people. I felt very proud at the handover ceremony, where we gave the keys of two houses to two very deserving families. Giving them something they can call their own is very important and was recognised by the whole community. I would encourage anyone who is interested in getting involved to just do it. I promise you wont regret it." - Jack Harte, Habitat volunteer, Zambia, 2016

“To see Gloria opening her front door for the first time was a memory that will stay with me for a very long time. The joy on her face, dancing like no one was watching.” - Cormac

While the world focuses on the excitement and thrill of the Rio Olympics, many disadvantaged families in Brazil’s favelas no longer have a place to call home. Two questions are on the minds of Rio de Janeiro’s residents: Where will the families evicted from where the Olympic City was built live? What will happen to the infrastructure built for the Olympic City? Read more: http://bit.ly/2buxmCz ‪#‎SolidGroundCampaign‬ ‪#‎Rio2016‬

Home Dedication Ceremonies are always joyous occasions that symbolise hope and new beginnings. Just last month, Habitat volunteers, community members and two new homeowner families in Zambia celebrated not only the new homes they had built together, but the friendships too. http://bit.ly/2ba8F1C
