psensor v1.1.1 has been released.
The settings are no more stored with GConf2. Global settings are stored with Gsettings and the sensors settings in $HOME/.psensor/psensor.cfg.
It is now possible to show or hide a sensor in the main window (sensors preferences > display sensor in the list of sensors).
Source tarball can be downloaded from http://wpitchoune.net/psensor/files.
The changes due to the settings management might introduce new bugs so it is recommended to use the last stable release v1.0.4 if you have concerns about reliability.

See http://wpitchoune.net/blog/psensor-v1-1-1/ for more information.

psensor version 1.1.2 has been released.

In addition to bug fixes, this release adds support of udisks for hard disk drives monitoring, fan support for nvidia, smoother curve drawing, croatian translation, and few UI improvements.

I have added in the dev branch the support of udisks2 for monitoring disk temperature. It avoids to have to deal with the hddtemp daemon and may eventually in the future provide additional information like alerts when the available disk storage is lower than a given threshold.

Smooth graph is enabled by default, but you can turn it off in the preferences.

I should release the 1.1.2 in coming days.

I have committed in the dev branch a first attempt to support the monitoring of NVIDIA fans.

Unfortunely, I have no way to test it because I only have fanless NVIDIA cards.
If you have got an NVIDIA card and use the proprietary driver, it would be nice if you can give a try and let me know the result.

Ubuntu users, can easily install the last snapshot of the dev branch by using the PPA: ppa:jfi/psensor-daily-trunk.

Please, launch psensor with debugging enabled "psensor -d3" and send me the result of "grep NVIDIA $HOME/.psensor/log".

Thanks!

As it is now possible to hide the sensors in the main window, I have added new metrics for the NVidia chips. Psensor is now able to display graphics, video engine, memory and PCI bus usage. Indeed it only works if the NVidia proprietary driver is used.

Graphics usage might be useful to understand why the temperature of the NVidia GPU is high. Other metrics should be quite useless but the code was the same, so...

You can give it a try by compiling psensor from the GIT master branch.
. For Ubuntu trusty/utopic, it will be available in the coming hours in the PPA: ppa:jfi/psensor-daily-trunk.

I have added  in the dev branch the capability to hide/show sensors in the main window. The new setting is currently named 'Display sensor in the list of sensors'. I need to code a better way to configure the sensors which must be displayed or hidden but at least it is now possible. You can give it a try by compiling the git master branch or using the daily ppa which will be available in the coming hours.

Psensor - A Graphical Temperature Monitor For Linux
Introduction

Psensor is a graphical hardware temperature monitor for Linux.

It can monitor:

  • the temperature of the motherboard and CPU sensors (using lm-sensors).
  • the temperature of the NVidia GPUs (using XNVCtrl).
  • the temperature of ATI/AMD GPUs requires compilation using libatiadlxx, support not enabled in Ubuntu PPAs).
  • the temperature of the Hard Disk Drives (using hddtemp).
  • the rotation speed of the fans (using lm-sensors).
  • the CPU usage (since 0.6.2.10 and using Gtop2).
