A very big Eureka moment for me:

Einstein tensor notation works only on *Metric* manifolds.

Sometimes you just need to be reminded why "we are the explorers." Great video hosted by Transformers' Peter Cullen http://t.co/OTew1b57

These guys start to really scare me.

From Texas GOP (the republican party):

"Knowledge-Based Education – We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning) which focus on behavior modification and have the purpose of challenging the student’s fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority."

#BAFact: Meteors don’t just happen on Earth: the Spirit rover saw one burning up over Mars!

Meteors burn up in our atmosphere all the time. If you go out on a clear, dark night, chances are you'll see several per hour.

But we're not the only planet suffering a cosmic onslaught: all large bodies in our solar system get hit. Mars has a thin atmosphere, but it's there, so little bits of meteoroidal debris burn up in the Red Planet's air as well. In March 2004, the Mars rover Spirit happened to catch one in the act.
