wow. Western digital has a 1TB 2.5" laptop HD for about 100 bucks.

some JW's showed up at the door. I'm afraid I gave them both barrels of the 'grandness of the universe and wonderful insignificance of our parochial biology/species' rundown. 500+ extrasolar planets! the RNA world hypothesis! cognitive dissonance and biases! You have Neandertals as ancestors! The Earth is pretty damn hostile to life! I cannot accept most of your bronze age collection of transcribed oral traditions, but I do like the bits about being nice to one another!

It was wonderful... from my perspective

Nom nom nom!! Jeri Lynn's woodpile salmon and lemon angel hair pasta for the contented sigh

productive day. Had Lunch with Miertam and picked up a old dotmatrix printer and Laserjet 3 got three (hopefully) good stepper motors out of them and some other odds and ends.

What's up in the world of Jeff -- its a lovely lovely Sunday. I'm off from my four tens at work. There are grey wool skies and showers outside--but it's not too chill.

So, I've purchased some servos and stepper motors from the internets. I found a seller on ebay for 8 stepper motors for $26 bucks! a steal! I also found a nifty resource: www.servodatabase.com and found a very nice cheap servo to do more experiments with. I might have been impulsive, I might have bought ten, but it is an investment! really.

I also found a used copy of 'The Art of Electronics', a very nifty textbook that sells for about $120. Five dollars. Seriously. We received it on Friday and I'm going through the first chapter. http://frank.harvard.edu/aoe/

The final shuttle crew is wrapping up their task on the ISS. I watched President Obama's call up to the crew. He was gracious, informed, intelligent and wry. President Obama Speaks with Shuttle, ISS Crews

Also, the Dawn spacecraft has slipped into orbit around the asteroid Vesta for the next few months. first close up pictures of this faraway place will be u on the JPL site tomorrow! http://dawn.jpl.nasa.gov/
