I opened a trading account at the Postbank here in Germany and they sent me a whole 160 pages book about the definition and risks of such things as stocks, bonds, investment funds, options and hedge funds. I can even buy investments in fleets of boats and planes!
All of this information comes with no advice whatsoever, no specific examples and no illustration of the possible movements in prices of all those types of investments or of the transaction costs involved in investing in them.
In short, the whole is made to be completely useless for any practical use. The warnings section is however quite consequential indeed... I understand they want to sell investment advice and also not sound like they are recommending anything so you cannot sue them for your own decisions later. I also understand they must fulfill their obligation to give you some legally required information.
But frankly, what a waste of good quality, shiny white paper!
