Space Technology Students' Society, IIT Kharagpur has organised Space Technology Awareness Camps (STAC) in various colleges, celebrating the auspicious occasion of National Space Day, which is celebrated on the first Friday of May. The day is dedicated to the extraordinary achievements, benefits and opportunities in the exploration and use of space.

Prof.Brian Schmidt talks about his research work on the "accelerating Universe" in his titled talk "State of the Universe" and describes the Standard Model of Cosmology. After the talk he hosts an interactive session with IIT Kharagpur and University of Leeds to address the questions asked by the students.
He shared the 2011 Nobel prize in Physics for providing the firm evidence of the acceleration of the Universe.
