I really enjoyed this restaurant! The food was the best Italian fare by far in the area, and I've had my share. I would definitely go back again. The location is wonderful, in the midst of shops and other fine dining with a vibrant atmosphere. The fresh mozzarella was the best I've ever tasted and the pasta was perfectly prepared. They also have an extensive and wonderful wine list. Definitely try their Super Tuscan Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona which is an incredible red wine! The service was also excellent. I'll definitely return for more!

Best Italian food in or near Bethesda. Nice casual/elegant decor and ambiance. Have eaten there many times for lunch and dinner and honestly don't understand the neg reviews. Upscale spot, nouvelle cuisine portions, excellent variety of menus. Good wine list. Bread is fantastic too.

Absolutely perfect fried trout although the sauce was too rich & salty for the delicate fish. Ane the pistacchio ice cream was, likewise, excellent, but again, the topping was too rich & sweet for the delicate pistacchio. It is a real bargain for the quality of the food! I lived in Italy for four years; my wife is Italian; and we travel there often. This is certainly comparable to the best we have ever eaten at any price. I will return.

Overpriced, WAY overpriced. 20 dollars for 8 ravioli. 16 dollars for 2 scallops....if i am paying that much i expect the food to be life changing, which this place certainly is not. Waiter was OK if a little on the disintrested side, atmosphere is ok, food was a 2 out of 5 and the price was a 1 out of 5.

After reading superlative reviews of this restaurant, my expectations were high. I found the food quite disappointing. Risotto was gluey, tagliatelle with crab-- bland and full of shell, veal chop somewhat tough and veal ravioli just fair. Even the cheese platter disappointed with the Pecorino tasting quite off. This place was pricey and below par. Would not return.

Went for bethesda restaurant week, the duck confit, mini meatballs, and semifreddo were all amazing as was the cavatelli pasta! Will definitely be going back here. It wasn't that crowded so our service was excellent.

I will start by saying I HATE to leave a bad review and only do it if it's that BAD, but our new years eve experience at this restaurant was awful. Where do I begin. We got there at 6 before the New Years Eve crowd and the service from the get go wasn't great. We asked the waiter about recommendations and the best way to enjoy their cheese plates and were greeted with little help. When it came down to the food, the appetizer was so so, and only one out of 4 dishes was Good. The Veal Ravioli was very good, but the bolognese tasted like hamburger helper (maybe worse), the lobster was incredibly flat, and we found a hair in a vegetable pasta dish that had very little flavor otherwise. Oh and did I mention that when my Dad asked for butter to try and swallow the lobster they brought a small bowl of whipped butter. Finally the waiter realized and brought out some melted butter. We said very little before leaving the restaurant as we are not rude people, but after that experience I would say steer clear! Maybe it was a New Years Eve snaffu where the kitchen and wait staff started the party a little early. From what other people have said this must have just been a fluke!!! In my opinion STEER CLEAR!

Excellent food choice, taste and presentation, service is attentive even when restaurant is busy, warm welcome to new customers and certainly to repeat customers, attractive environment, owner on premises is good and maitre d' is very good - only downside is noise level which is fairly high especially on Saturday nights. However, it is tolerable and the overall experience is so good the noise is not a big deal.
