Bus ridership is down on the CTA while rail ridership is up. The CTA said the bus decline is not related to any cuts the agency made during its 2012 decrowding program, which added and eliminated bus service.
Maybe they should look at the Ventra rollout as a possible cause for the drop in ridership. Instead of spending a half billion for the new fare system, they would have (probably) saved money by upgrading the machines that took the magnetic strips.
