As I'm sure many of you have already noticed, one of LizardIRC's servers, sapphire.lizardirc.org, has disappeared from the network. According to our provider, its host server has suffered a major hardware failure and an emergency drive migration is in progress to a new system. There is currently no ETA on when we will be able to return sapphire to the IRC server rotation, but we will do so as soon as possible. In the meantime, we have removed the server from our round robins, so reconnecting to irc.lizardirc.org will put you back on an active LizardIRC server.

Apologies for the disruption, and thanks for flying LizardIRC!

There will shortly be an unscheduled downtime for emerald.lizardirc.org to apply some changes to mitigate Meltdown. The server will be down for approximately 30 to 60 minutes, during which it will be split from the network. Apologies for the short notice, and thanks for flying LizardIRC!

LizardIRC server diamond.lizardirc.org will be going down shortly for about 30 minutes - possibly longer - to apply important security updates. For the duration, there will be an extended netsplit and IRC services (e.g., NickServ and ChanServ) will be unavailable. Apologies for the short notice, and thanks for flying LizardIRC.

The issues with quartz.lizardirc.org (hardware problems requiring emergency maintenance) have been resolved and the server is stable, so we have reintroduced it to the network's active rotation and restored the network links to their usual state.

Server quartz.lizardirc.org went down unexpectedly at 10:57 UTC and hasn't yet come back up, so we've removed the server from the active rotation and rerouted the network links around it. We are investigating the issue now, and updates will be provided as they become available. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Downtime has been scheduled for sapphire.lizardirc.org (hooray not emerald for once!) for patching.

The downtime is scheduled to begin Wednesday 1 November 2017 at 04:00 UTC, and is expected to last 30 minutes or less.

For the downtime start time in other timezones, please see http://bit.ly/2zQFqcr

Users on sapphire will be disconnected when the downtime begins, but reconnecting to irc.lizardirc.org will get you back on another active LizardIRC server. Thanks for flying LizardIRC!
