We had pretty cloudy skies for the partial annular eclipse, but at one point just a little after the maximum it became apparent that there was a layer of thinner clouds working pretty effectively as a solar filter. So I took the risk, put the camera on the telescope, and hoped not to smell smoke. This was the result, and I'm pretty sure all the equipment survived!

That is a fantastic photo! LOL re: burning the equipment! That was clever using the annoying, untimely clouds as filter ;) they gave the picture a very cinematographic vibe as though taken from a suspense/horror/magical movie.
