Tendinosis is an overuse injury that often results from prolonged poor posture, repetitive motion, or musculoskeletal injury due to musculoskeletal imbalance. An injury of this type occurs when a tendon suffers an unnoticed, microscopic tear, and then another tear before the original heals.

Notes on Distinguishing Normal and Abnormal Fascial Adhesions

In the early years of my dissection studies, I was an active practitioner of structural integration. I believed that if I used my hands to “differentiate” my clients’ tissues, I could help them to experience freedom of movement more fully.

Assessing Pelvis Movement in Walking

In contrast to upper-body shift, the second method for getting the center of gravity over the standing leg relies on laterally shifting the lower center of gravity, the pelvis, over the standing leg.

May The Course Be With You…treating golf injuries

The Masters Golf Tournament certainly proved to be an entertaining event this year with Patrick Reed winning the “green jacket” by one stroke over Rickie Fowler. When I authored this article for my 2012 Dynamic Body text, Tiger Woods was the guy who was lighting all the tournaments. The spring weather here in Oklahoma is starting to bring with it a bunch of golf related injuries so I thought I’d revisit an excerpt from this golf chapter….

Last week while flipping TV channels, I happened to catch some interesting gossip from a cheesy entertainment show reporting that Stefani Germanotta, aka Lady Gaga, was being treated for low-back pain at a local physical therapy clinic. This uniquely talented, five-time Grammy Award winner and self- proclaimed “high heeled queen of sheen” has probably done more to mess up low backs than anyone since Mike Tyson. So, here she is at the ripe age of 25 suffering back spasm.

Part one: Sacrificing Complexity of Movement for Stability
Many injuries in America today result from on-the-job muscle/joint strain and overuse syndromes. Working in a technologically driven society has caused an explosive and expensive increase in work-related costs, with injuries occurring to categories of workers previously considered low risk for anything more serious than the occasional paper-cut.
