The DEA has established The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for medication abuse. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. local time in every state except Pennsylvania and Delaware, where the event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 12. In yesterday’s Leaders Speak article, our vice president of clinical services detailed the role of telephonic nurse case managers in facilitating self-directed care. According to Jean Chambers, “Nurse case managers are experts in assessment, planning and coordination of patient treatment across all settings of care.
