Had an hour-long drive home from work this evening and Barenaked Ladies "One Week" came on the radio. It mentions the X-files, a series I am currently re-watching on Netflix. So, since I didn't have anything else to do, I started thinking about other songs that mention or are about the X-files. I came up with Bloodhound Gang's "Bad Touch" and Bree Sharp's "David Duchovny." Can any of you think of any others?

So, a lunchtime discussion led me to discover that the frilled shark has the longest gestation of any vertebrate (up to 3.5 years!). Plus, it's really cool and creepy looking.

A friend posted a link to this today, and I thought that the picture series was very well done. Great engagement pic series: http://ht.ly/67p3n

Saw a picture of a solenodon the other day and had no clue what it was. Very rare venomous shrew/possum-ish creature with a nearly prehensile nose and hollow, venom-injecting teeth.

It's too hot to go to the zoo, so I'm visiting my favorite animals on the internet instead. The dik-dik and the Reeves's muntjac are my favorite little deer creatures. I call the muntjacs demon deer because the males have 2-inch sharp tusk-like teeth. Always startling to see on a cute little grazer. Here are a couple of articles about them if you're unfamiliar. I especially liked reading that the muntjacs have apparently invaded the UK and can be seen in small herds.

Got an Eden's Gem melon at the farmers' market today. I love strange fruit adventures.
