Very popular brunch place in chi-chi neighborhood, with animated social atmosphere on sidewalk for waiting diners. Appearances are attractive, but my experience was ugly, quite opposite to what I had expected. Beyond disappointment, I was baffled that anyone would ever go there again after their first experience! Yes, that bad. To critique my Eggs Benedict, the sauce was broken, with distinct clumps, a true no-no to a competent chef. There was no Canadian bacon, just a mundane ham slice. Instead of the traditional English muffin, they chose a rather nice biscuit , which was tasty, but inappropriaely sweet for balancing the dish. The plates were cold, and so were most of the abundance of potatoes. The table "salsa" was simple ketchup. Finally, the ambience of upscale fashion was overwhelmed by harsh noise, such that "conversation" required much projection over the din. Like I said, I really don't understand why anyone would go back there.

I really, really want to love Ellla's, but I just don't. I try something new every time and am always slightly disappointed. Last time I had the fried egg sandwich and the bread was not great and the potatoes were cold. Am I just ordering the wrong dish? I may try something sweet rather than savory next time I go.

This place is phenomenal. The biscuits are fluffy and their homemade jam is excellent. They have a number of interesting choices with eggs, like an avocado fried egg sandwich or an omelette with crab and asparagus. The wait can be very long on the weekends.

All the best places have lines out the door! The food is just like comfort food, home cooking. Their baked goods are made there and are so delish.

Fast friendly, amazing food. Spicy polenta and pulled pork hash were filling but not heavy. Wonderful, can't wait to try more of the menu.

Chicken Hash? Sticky Buns? Try Chicken/potato mush, and hard crusted petrified bread. Every thing we tasted seemed out of a box and processed. Everything could have done better at home. There seems to be a lot of hype in Ella's. I like the set and the feel but the food was a major let down. I base all my reviews off of do I recommend it or not. Not stars or any of that trash. This is a definite no recommendation.

There is always a wait at this place but the breakfast food and brunch menu is totally worth it. Its nice and cozy at this place unless you're waiting near the door for your seat then its a bit gusty in that area. Definitely order the chicken hash. I believe their pancakes change on a daily or weekly basis. They had a banana walnut one once that was absolutely divine.

I have only visited Ella's for brunch on the weekends so I can't speak to the lunch and dinner menus. Their breakfast is great, as evidenced by the crowds waiting for a table on Saturday and Sunday mornings. While there are menu staples (chicken hash, buttermilk pancakes with bananas), most of the dishes change from week to week. Their egg dishes are never boring, consisting of omlettes or scrambles with a combination of fresh ingredients. The special pancake recipe is always a combination of luxurious, sometimes surprising, flavors (lemon ricotta poppyseed? hazelnut and bananas? buckwheat and candied ginger? yum.) You can't go wrong. The wait can sometimes be daunting if you come during rush hour, but things move relatively quickly if you're a party of two (hint: agree to sit at the counter - it speeds up your wait and you can watch the awesome kitchen action.) They'll pour you coffee as you wait for your table; once you're there, the service is fast and polite.
