I just finished "Imperial Earth" by Arthur C. Clarke for the first time. Despite the title, it is not militaristic in the least and seems to be one of the most plausible sci-fi outlooks on future politics I have seen in a long time. I personally felt it errored on the pessimistic side for this century and a growth curve, while being slightly more utopian than history would suggest is likely. But it was an incredible universe he built nonetheless. I was wondering what other people's opinions were about it - especially his outlook on human growth beyond earth. It seemed plausible to me, but slower than I anticipate will actually occur.
