Dinner here is an all around classy affair. The food is good and covers a wide range of choices, the drink menu has some nice specialty items, and the service is good. The decor is nice, but the space is noticeably a bit smaller and brighter than some similar venues, so if you want the illusion of privacy there isn't so much much here, but the location is great, so in terms of good food and excellent drinks in the heart of Cambridge this is the place to go.

The food was fine but not at the level of a 26 rating. This place used to be better, and friendlier. It now seems more oriented towards a younger clientele looking for a lively "scene" than fine dining. It is probably a great local hang-out but not a destination restaurant for people coming in from the suburbs.

I love coming in here and sitting at the bar - especially on Mondays when they have after work tapas. The bartenders are excellent and friendly. The food is spot on and they have some intersting drink options - I have gotten some great cocktails here. I would defintely recommend a trip in here. This bar - the actual bar itself- is one of my favorite - it is so roomy. You have space for all your drinks/food. I like the 2 level action. Props to Rendezvous for thinking through the space and doing a great job with it.

We went on a Monday night for the tapas menu and had a good experience. From the website, it appeared that the tapas would only be available at the bar, but we were able to order them at a table. While the portions seemed a bit small, even for tapas, the food ranged from good to great. Some highlights: spicy fried chickpeas with kale and preserved lemon, fried oysters with pickles and spicy mayo, and lamb short ribs. We also got the gnocchi appetizer off of the regular menu, and the texture was perfect. The cocktails were creative and enjoyable - I had one with saffron and cardamom - and a can of beer was served with an awesomely tacky koozie, so out of place that we loved it. Service felt a bit awkward at times but friendly overall. We tried to cover part of the bill with a Visa gift card, which just wouldn't work. (I've had trouble with these cards at restaurants before - I think it has to do with the card automatically charging a higher amount as pre-authorization for a tip). They tried really hard to get it to work, though, and were very apologetic when it wouldn't. We left with a bundle of receipts for voided transactions and the manager's name in case the card won't work anymore. We appreciated the effort. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, but it's a bit out of my current budget for casual dining and it just wasn't quite exciting enough for a special occasion, so I don't think I'll end up back there soon. Definitely worth a try if it's in your budget, though.

The food is really fine. It's not great, but it's not bad either, and it apparently doesn't take itself too seriously, keeping its prices all below $30. Drinks are good. The plating for the tapas was a little fussy and dated, with the quality and age of the plate-ware not helping. Bread was great. I say stick to more straightforward cooking -- no one needs these fancy seeming platings -- I mean really - we're in Cambridge, anyone who takes themselves so seriously as to expect these can gtfo. We want good straightforward cooking.

My favorite restaurant in Boston/Cambridge. Best owner in Boston/Cambridge area. Never had a bad dish. Toasted oriechette is to die for. Steve Johnson knows his food and he respects the food and he respects the customers. Excellent.

The food is really very good. The meatballs were exceptional. It's a wonderful local restaurant. They don't advertise like some of the other local spots, and don't have chefs that are in the spotlight, but still though, it's a wonderful local restaurants. A lot of chefs tend to lose their edge and quality over time, but Rendeveous is fabulous all the time.

Simple + elegant, with a relaxed atmosphere (housed in former Burger King?!), enhanced by the rooftop herb garden, which partly supplies the delicious recipes (some of which are inspired by Mediterranean culinary tradition) by chef Steve Johnson, paired with an exceptional selection of wine (my pick: Château Armendière). Attentive service -- food was served very quickly. Highlights: $38 three-course prix fixe (Sundays), Lemon Buttermilk Pudding (with Huckleberry Sauce), Potato Gnocci (w/Ratatouille, Prosciutto, and Pecorino Romano), Roast Cod, Seared Scallops (w/Moroccan Spices, Meyer Lemon Relish, and Black Olive Vinaigrette).
