Hi. My name is Jay. I am a journalist and broadcaster with a fine collection of floral shirts. I've written on everything from crime and politics, through cinema and theatre to the visual arts, but I'm probably best known as restaurant critic for the British national newspaper the Observer. For a while I was a sex columnist for Cosmopolitan; I also once got myself completely waxed in the name of journalism. I only mentions this because it hurt. I am a former Young Journalist of the Year, Critic of the Year and Restaurant Critic of the Year, though not all in the same year. Somehow I've also found time to write four novels and two works of non-fiction. I've also just published an eBook called My Dining Hell which is a collection of 20 of my worst restaurant experiences. I was a judge on two seasons of Bravo's Top Chef Masters and I am  a regular on British television, where I am familiar as a judge on Masterchef and, since 2009, as the resident food experts on The One Show. I like pig.
