Nice.  Totally meant as a compliment; the cadence and the bounce in the beat reminds me of Bear Naked Ladies.  Really like the bridge, btw.

Interesting social networking info.

Social is getting old; Facebook, Twitter and G+ attract baby-boomers
According to the GlobalWebIndex between Q2 2012 and Q1 2013 Twitter’s fastest growing age demographic was 55 to 64 year olds, registering an increase in active users of 79%.

Both Facebook’s and Google+’s fastest growing age demographic was 45 to 54 year olds, growing by 46% and 56% respectively.

The other driving force behind the popularity of the big three is mobile. Since Q1 2011, the number of people which access the internet via a mobile phone has increased by 60.3%.

The good news for G+ is that the percentage of active users independent of age is rising. A 100% rise in posts and 75% in photos means these new people are actively contributing content. A key to survival for the content-centered G+-.

More posts means more results in search which will attract new users for G+. Now the question is who is seeing the growth in the younger demographics. Is Pinterest the new social?

Good advice from my former boss.
Governor Inslee came into office determined to make climate a priority. Instead he has faced a series of tough losses and retreats. The Republican state Senate rebuffed his proposed cap and trade system. To get a highway bill (itself a … Continue reading →

I was talking with a friend recently about how secular Northern European social democracies, while leading the world in most measures associated with human welfare, are retrenching from their liberalism.  I've heard said that the shift has a lot to do with growing diversity, and increases in the size and composition of immigrant and refugee populations, giving Scandinavians an "other" to pin societies problems on.

This article seems to add credence to that theory.  It also might suggest a factor influencing the U.S. not follow the post-war path of Northern Europe with regard to housing, education and medicine insofar as we've always had an "other" of one type or another to scapegoat.

I'd like to say that this is surprising. Unfortunately, it just isn't.

Living well is the best revenge.
Introduction
In Seattle, by way of California, Connecticut, D.C. and New Hampshire.  What a long, strange trip it's been.

I'm a performing musician, policy geek, and lover of DIY.  I ride bikes, restore and hot-rod old motorcycles (Japanese and British), and - given the opportunity to study the subject - will generally take on any challenge or task and see it through.

MIke's an amazing guy, and a great frame builder. I've had two of his frames (the first was stolen - bad karma to bike thieves!), a cross frame with convertible dropouts, and a lugged road frame. The latter was shown at Interbike in 2007. Both rode beautifully and were exactly what I'd wanted. Mike's a busy guy, but runs a great businesses and build great bikes. You can't go wrong with one of his frames.
