Fascinating...

So tonight, the morons I work with, arrested a dude. They tried to stop him for violating several BICYCLE rules (such as not having a light on his bicycle). When he didn't stop, they tackled him and added on a resisting charge. He ended up with 3 bicycle tickets and a class A misdemeanor...

... And they have no clue why people hate us...

Bad valves in nuclear plant in FLAMANVILLE?

How can this not turn into a bad movie?
Flamanville third-generation EPR nuclear reactor - the same model Britain plans to use for two new plants at Hinkley Point - has multiple faults in crucial safety valves, inspectors warn

Crowder has been on a roll lately.

America now demands that Dirty Harry be more 'sensitive' and praises Caitlyn Jenner as a hero.

Is this real life?
Spike TV recently filmed it’s “Guys Choice Awards” ceremony, which will air on June 18th. That’s important, because context matters here. The one and only Dirty Harry, Clint Eastwood, was one of the award presenters. Eastwood was on hand to present an award to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for his role in the movie San Andreas. In true Eastwood fashion, he took a slight jab when he introduced The Rock by comparing him to other famous athletes who wen...

Robert E. Lee finished 2nd at west point served honorably in the U.S. Army, he was offered to lead Lincolns invasion into the Confederacy, and because of this invasion was obviously taking place in his home state of Virginia , he rightfully declined and went home to defend it. The slaves General Lee inherited he freed in 1862, during a time the South was holding her own. Booker T. Washington claims the first white men in America that tried to save the Negroes soul through Sunday school was General Lee and General Stonewall Jackson. These mean are demonized , yet Union Generals Sherman and Grant kept their slaves until they had to free them, even stated it was because "good work is hard to find".
Because people have been made completely Ignorant by government approved education, they don't know who or what to be offended by, and demonizing people we should be honoring. It all boils down to removing the idea of Rebellion from the minds of Americans, next will be Revolutionary icons. Just think, in a few generations we'll have the most ignorant, obedient, little corporate consuming debt slaves, they won't even know to question authority, the thought of resisting it will be long removed. And that to me is a scary thought.

An interesting read.
There are two great acts of political make-believe in our time, so all-pervasive that it is hard for us to grasp just how much effect they are having on our lives

Computer modeling is infallible.

Oh, look! There's Caitlyn!
the_newsbeagle writes: Last fall, the trajectory of the Ebola outbreak looked downright terrifying: Computational epidemiologists at Virginia Tech predicted 175,000 cases in Liberia by the end of 2014, while the CDC predicted 1.4 million cases in Liberia and Sierra Leone. They were way off. The actu...

As a software engineer I know better than to trust an unvalidated computer model.  Even when you get the assumptions right (which we know they didn't with the greenhouse gas models) there are subtle ways the models can go grossly wrong.
