VoxBox opened on 21st May 2011. We buy, sell and trade Records. We stock around 500 different brand new titles and 3000 or so pre-owned records. We've really come on in the last 2 years and have probably the best mix of old and new vinyl in Edinburgh.

Our basic stock is MOJO/UNCUT type rock music and independent labels but there is a good amount of Blues, Jazz and Classical too.

In terms of Scottish labels, we stock Chemikal Underground, Mogwai's Rock Action, Fence, Lost Map, Song by Toad, Olive Grove, Gerry Loves Records, and honorary Scottish label, Fat Cat as well as weird and wonderful one offs. We have an open shelf policy for local musicians and have most collectable genres except heavy metal and techno.

The shop participates in Record Store Day and Cassette Store Day and is a keen promoter of the local music scene. We host regular in-stores and keep an ear to the ground regarding local artists.

An offshoot of the shop is FoxBox Records; started in 2014 to help sell the tasty releases of local musicians before bigger labels cotton on.

Recent Stuff:
The shop is featured in Last Shop Standing (the book).
And has been featured on BBC Radio 6 Music (Steve Lamacque Show 2014)
The Edinburgh Evening News (Record Store Proves To Be A Real Hit 2014)

Looking for the sort of music shop where you could spend hours flicking through vinyls and always find a hidden gem? If this is the case, head to Vox Box music in Stockbridge to add to your music collection. The owner of Vox Box, Darren, really knows his music. Ask for recommendations and he will give you a long list of bands, old and new, that will fit your musical tastes. He’s also a real champion of local emerging artists. It’s a great shop, where you’re bound to find something to add to your collection.

Probably the best selection of vinyl in Edinburgh. Spent time and money easily in this lovely we shop. Some real coffee and carrot cake and I would have been there all day. Darren one of the proprietors has an excellent knowledge of his stock. Well done VOXBOX I will be back soon and will recommend you to friends.

Excellent music shop on St Stephen's Street in StockB. Staff know their stuff but are unintimidating to those who don't and will happily recommend something for you or chat away about what you're looking for. While they don't stock all the latest releases on vinyl, their second hand selection is excellent and they do keep a lot of great, local bands on the shelves.

Very easy lay out to browse - the new arrival buckets are a godsend. Every record shop should have them. Plenty of bargains, friendly service.
