VoxBox opened on 21st May 2011. We buy, sell and trade Records. We stock around 500 different brand new titles and 3000 or so pre-owned records. We've really come on in the last 2 years and have probably the best mix of old and new vinyl in Edinburgh.
Our basic stock is MOJO/UNCUT type rock music and independent labels but there is a good amount of Blues, Jazz and Classical too.
In terms of Scottish labels, we stock Chemikal Underground, Mogwai's Rock Action, Fence, Lost Map, Song by Toad, Olive Grove, Gerry Loves Records, and honorary Scottish label, Fat Cat as well as weird and wonderful one offs. We have an open shelf policy for local musicians and have most collectable genres except heavy metal and techno.
The shop participates in Record Store Day and Cassette Store Day and is a keen promoter of the local music scene. We host regular in-stores and keep an ear to the ground regarding local artists.
An offshoot of the shop is FoxBox Records; started in 2014 to help sell the tasty releases of local musicians before bigger labels cotton on.
The shop is featured in Last Shop Standing (the book).
