There's a bit of British cereal nostalgia this week, along with a bit of pastry-based FACT. And some speculation about the Dutch space program.

Today, we talk a load of rubbish. I mean, literally, we're talking about rubbish. Also, we invent "Russian Toilette".

Have sort of experienced Russian Toilette here. Used an outside dunny that was surrounded by stinging nettles. Not somewhere to go in the dark.

I can now cross off "attach a GoPro to a level crossing barrier" on my (imaginary, infinitely-long) bucket list.

We actually get all serious and factual for a bit, this week. Just for a bit. (Also, I tried pixellating Gary's stomach, but that just made him look really dodgy.)

The last video from Paris! I... I might have gotten a bit carried away with that introduction.

I'm just a little proud of the "rise and fall" pun. I know I'm not the first, but I'm still just a little proud.

EDIT: No idea why the sound seems to suddenly be out of sync in the middle. I could've sworn it was all in sync when I uploaded it...

Strangely enough I took a picture of one being demolished yesterday... https://plus.google.com/u/0/+DanBenton/posts/N3em2Vpiyug

I put this one together very quickly: explaining buffer exploits and today's Heartbleed attack in a way that, I hope, most folks can understand!

If you want to go tinfoil hat, the question to ask is why this was made public before fixes were widely deployed, on the day Windows XP ended support by a company that has the ex-security chief of Microsoft as chairman of the board (Howard Schmidt) all with a wonderfully designed website and logo ...
If they took all time for registering a website and a logo, why did they disclose so early (and on the WinXP EOL day non the less)?

I realised, while recording this, that I knew the number 16,777,216 off my heart. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

It's been a while since I did a tech-news joke. But Facebook just bought Oculus Rift for $2bn, which basically is a tech-news joke. So I made them a commercial. They probably won't like it.

Should be a bit longer, like 1:40 minutes, though.
But still funny nonetheless.

I make things.
Introduction
Hello. I'm Tom. I make things.

I bodge things together using lines of code, a load of video editing tools, and a few metres of network cable.

I have far too many red t-shirts.

On stage and at conferences, I talk about the internet, about the accelerating pace of change, about how to deal with social media, and occasionally about tea cozies. I've also been an occasional talking head on Sky News, ITV and Al Jazeera English, and I've occasionally written for the Guardian's technology blog.

I was one of Sky 1 HD's Gadget Geeks, building ridiculous things that even manage to work sometimes.

I once got in trouble with the government for mocking one of their web sites; I was a Girl Guide for insurance reasons a couple of years ago; and I was a part-time pirate for most of my adult life.

Oh, and I once got five gold runs on Blockbusters.
