The food itself was fabulous. Very flavor and as close to authentic that I have had in a while. However the margaritas were fair-to-poor. Very syrupy and orange to color? Strange? Hardly taste any tequila. The service wasn't great. Requesting to sit on the patio seemed like an inconvenience. I don't know if it was the language barrier or what but there was a lot of confusion. Probably won't return.

La Vallesana waters down their tequila. I have been a long time customer and was very excited about the new bar. I ordered a marg that was suspiciously light on tequila, so I took a shot from the same bottle my drink was made with. completely watered down tequila. I talked to the manager about this, who denied it, and denied any compensation for the experience. I even ordered another shot of the same tequila from an unopened bottle just to prove my point. Tasted like tequila of course. My heart is broken. I have been defeated.

Tacos are 2 bucks for one- three will do it! Only reason I'm giving 4/5 is you have to pay for chips and salsa. Green sauce is veeeery good.

I've been coming here since it was a hut with a counter inside. Love the cachete and lengua tacos if you're up for something different authentic and delicious. Also the aquas are wonderful, try the rompeppe or horchata. The owner makes the ice cream himself and they have amazing fresh fruit flavors. I tried the curdled milk ice cream last night - sounds strange but tastes kind of like cheesecake. I also love the torta cubano, loaded with chorizo queso hot dogs refritos ham tomato lettuce and strips of jalepeno -delish and filling. They keep fresh pickled vegetables on the table as a condiment nice touch.

This is the best Mexican in St. Louis period. The tortas are amazing and prices are cheap. Their guacamole is one of a kind and simply mouth watering. I go here often and have been since it was just a small hut that sold only tortas. They also have this green sauce.... not verde but it is the bomb. Try this place out... in the daytime :-)

Paid for tortas for me and my 6 kids to eat. This was 200% better food than what I got from any other torta shop including the one attached to El torito.
