The earth receives about 1,366 watts of direct solar radiation per square meter. The total surface area required to power the world with solar energy is only around 366,375 square kilometers.
The Sandy Cross Solar Farm, just across I-95 from Sandy Cross Vineyard, which grows organic muscadine grapes, will produce more than 2,150 MWh of affordable electricity per year.
California reached a renewable energy milestone last week: At one point on June 8, according to the California Independent System Operator (CaISO), a record 849 megawatts of solar-generated electricity was feeding into the state's power grid
