The Kidney Meridian when in balance can be likened to the ability to move through the world feeling confident and motivated.

If you've ever skated and known the feeling of gliding along effortlessly with only the slightest push needed to get you going.

However, when the Kidney meridian is not functioning well (either deficient or overactive), we are prone to stress, fear and anxiety, which inhibit our capacity to act.

Element: Water.

Heart Constrictor Meridian Point 6 (HC 6) is located in the middle of the inner forearm 2.5 finger-widths from the crease of the wrist.

It can be helpful in providing symptomatic relief from anxiety and nervousness.
Shiatsu Point Therapy
Using either your thumb or middle finger, apply pressure until you feel the soreness in the point.

While maintaining the pressure, breathe slowly in and out of the point until you feel the soreness and tension disappear.

Sometimes, fixating on a problem can cause us to be blind to a solution even though it maybe staring us in the face or obvious to everyone else.

If you always wait until you feel like doing something,
then you might never do what needs to be done.

Concerning all acts of initiative or creation,
there is one elementary truth...
that the moment you definitely commit yourself,
then Providence moves. too.

All sorts of things occur to help you
that would otherwise never have occurred.

In the movie The Kings Speech, Geoffrey Rush plays a language therapist to King George VI played by Colin Firth, who has a fixed mental set or belief that he cannot speak without stammering.

“I stammer, and no-one can fix it,” he says.

Rush gets him to read a speech out loud from Shakespeare’s Hamlet (“To be or not to be”) and Firth can’t read it without stammering.

About the Large Intestine meridian
The Large Intestine meridian is part of the Metal phase in which energy is contracting.

The Large Intestine uses contraction to absorb and elminate - selecting what is appropriate and eliminating what is unwanted.

When the meridian is functioning well, we feel more optimistic, decisive as well as trusting in our ourselves and our judgement.

Element: Metal.

Newsletter Winter - June  2017

Winter Foods
Winter is the season when we can feel the most vulnerable, insecure, and lacking in motivation.

Foods that can make us feel supported, warm, and secure are buckwheat, oats, soba noodles, miso soup, adzuki beans, roots, greens, and salty condiments.
