This is my map of "The Five Points" Neighborhood in lower Manhattan. The map is shown as three layers with the oldest being the pale blue of the Collect Pond and the newest being the pale yellow streets of today. The blocks in red represent what was there when the Five Points was in its prime. The neighborhood, also known as Paradise Square, was notorious in it's day but was made famous more recently as the setting for Martin Scorcese's, "Gangs o...

Been thinking about making this every time I go to Tahoe for the weekend. Such a beautiful place to spend time.

I've always been fascinated that I-280 in Palo Alto goes over the top of a particle accelerator. It's not everyday that you can drive over the top of a Nobel Prize winning Physics Lab. I also find the curve of the highway against the accelerator's "straightest building on Earth" geometry interesting so I decided to make this map. As I was looking at the satellite images, I was intrigued by the chaos of buildings at the terminus (right side) of th...

Introduction

I’m a designer with a focus on the social dimensions of technology. I studied architecture in college and started professional life as an exhibit designer. I also enjoy running, hiking, camping, and kayaking. In my spare time, I make maps of lost towns, strange borders and places I've visited.
