Diaspora in Wordpress

Starting December 3, the world’s governments meet behind closed doors to discuss the future of the Internet. This meeting of the International Telecommunication Union or #ITU will take place in Dubai. Some governments want to use this meeting in Dubai to increase censorship and regulate the Internet.

A free and open world depends on a free and open Internet. And a #freeandopen Internet depends on you.

Many people said: "you should show some code, before ask donation". So I've set up a repository on GitHub, the url is: https://github.com/TheBojda/Diaspora-in-Wordpress . It is a pre pre alpha version, only for hard core users. If you add the plugin to your +WordPress instance, and set up the RSA public keys, you can add your +Wordpress blog to +DIASPORA* as a remote user. If your blog url is myblog.com, you should use me@myblog.com, or something like this (the user part is not important). The diaspora pod will pull your data, and you will see the diaspora user on the admin page of your blog. It is everything in this state of development. Not too much, but more than nothing ...

We have started our crowd sourcing project, Diaspora in Wordpress. The aim is to create a +PHP based +DIASPORA* pod implementation, based on +WordPress. If you are interested, look at our project page on RocketHub: http://rockethub.com/projects/4489-diaspora-in-wordpress

Thank you Nicholas. I've written a few words about buddypress on diaspora-dev group:

"I know buddypress. Integrating diaspora with buddypress is not a bad
idea. Buddypress is definitely something like a diaspora pod without
the ability to communicate with other pods. This could be a way ...
But my conception is little bit different. I think, a real
decentralized social network doesn't need pods. My idea is a network
from personal wordpress blogs which can communicate through diaspora
protocol as minimal (1 person) pods. This is something real
decentralized thing. You have not trust any pod provider, cause you
really own all of your data in your personal wordpress instance. This is my conception which differs from the buddypress architecture ... "

Many people ask me, "why do you think that +WordPress is a good base of a social network?". I think many people are already using WordPress as a digital identity. They are running they blog on it, collect their photos on it, writing some words about themselves, etc. In an implicit way, a WordPress blog is something like a Facebook profile. The only thing which is missing is the connection between these nodes. I think, the protocol of +DIASPORA* is a good solution to integrate these individual nodes to an integrated, existing ecosystem. This is why I started this project. The idea of a WordPress based decentralized social network is not a new idea. Look at +Chris Messina 's DiSO project (http://code.google.com/p/diso/). I try to rethink it from the aspect of diaspora. This is why I've started this project, and this is what I believe in ...
