Symposium Quilt Show Hendersonville, NC
I was able to attend the quilt Symposium held at Bonclarken in Hendersonville North Carolina! My quilt guild, WNC quilt guild, hosted the Symposium this year and all of the committee did an awesome job! So many talented teachers and people were there! I especially enjoyed the booth of art quilt artist, Roxane Lessa. My eyes just kept drawing back to her booth and her beautiful work. I also happened to sit next to Sue Nickels at lunch which was a real treat. The Symposium was such a great place to draw inspiration and get ideas. We also had a great quilt show there as well and I’m happy to say my quilt, “Bali Dance Under the Moon,” won 1st place in its category! I also won Honorable Mention with “Yes, It’s Kudzu!” (one of my plant poundings) in another category. Read more...

Wow! I had a wonderful time giving a lecture and workshop last week at my guild, the Western North Carolina quilt guild (www.westernncquilters.org) on my “Plant Poundings With A Twist” method.   The pigment of the plant is used to make the basic design and then additional layers of color, ink and thread are added to make one of a kind wallhangings. It is a fairly easy technique that can be made as simple or complex as you would like to make your pounding.
