You are invited to attend a meetup event at Starbucks meeting room located 2400 S. Bonnyview Rd. Redding, CA. We will continue to concentrate on  #Android 5 Lollipop and the influence of #material #design

We will continue development  from our last meeting where we created a simple application called Sigma Calculator. However, this time we will look at ways we can improve our design by updating our application to  #material #design
Last time we got a little carried away by converting C language to Java in efforts to compare the two. A good experiment as we were able to visually see the similarities and the ease of porting to Android platform.
I would expect the same to happen on this meetup as we compare and contrast design elements between different versions of Android as we update to the latest trend in #android 5 #material #design.

Our goal for this meetup is to push the envelope on better ways to convert your code to be compatible with the latest Android release. In addition we will cover topics that follow design standards.

As a developer you might have noticed that it has become difficult to attend developer conferences. However, this next year Yahoo announced a free to attend conference geared for mobile developers which is to unveil new tools for mobile Android & IOS.

I must admit, I am a Google junkie! I love investigating new services, API's, and various developer resources. Google has provided developers across the entire globe a grab-bag of development tools. All these tools can cause confusion regarding which direction to go, this is why attending developer conferences help propel success. Generally, you can attend sessions by topics that interest you the most. You will also have access to questions and answer sessions to help provide greater direction.

Through out the years attending conferences such as Google I/O has became increasingly difficult. Developers now fight one another in efforts to gain access to these events. From Java one, Apple, and Google I/O your chance for obtaining a ticket to attend is difficult. Albeit, there is a new kid on the block thriving to gain the attentions of developers, say hello to Yahoo mobile developer conference.

Let's be honest, Yahoo has been around 4 years longer than Google but when it comes to mobile development they are late to the game. There has been a few major changes with Yahoo over the last few years, particularly regarding Marissa Mayer. I personally paid more attention to Yahoo since Marissa Mayer left Google and became Yahoo CEO. I am keenly interested to see what will happen next.

Yahoo Mobile Conference will be held February 19th, 2015. Tickets will be free to attend, sign up now if you are interested.

Additionally, attending conferences cost money. Often times you can find resources in your local area. Take a peek at Google Developer Groups Community as you will find a ton of local resources to help propel your development future.

2015 will be a great year for multi-media rich head units in new vehicles. However, what about previous year models, are we stuck with boring inadequate head units that barely function when it comes to bluetooth technology?

It was a matter of time before we would start to see the light of replaceable head units that would allow an upgrade path with our current vehicles. If you are interested in upgrading your head unit take a look at Pioneer website, http://ow.ly/GWD03

Should mobile app development be part of enterprise development?

"IBM Institute for Business Value, reported that in 2013, 15 percent of online sales would take place by way of mobile devices; by 2017 that percentage will rise to 25 percent. It also indicates that 94 percent of smartphone owners report using their mobile device while in a store. With such staggering numbers and growth, can organizations afford to have ad hoc mobile app development that is not part of the enterprise application development strategy?"

Years ago, the primary brand image of a retailer was the brick-and-mortar store. In the 1990s, the primary brand image was composed of the store’s website in addition to the brick-and-mortar store. Today, a retailer’s primary brand image largely consists of its mobile application. Organizations across all industries are reevaluating their mobile apps. For many …
