Google announces they will begin manually reviewing apps submitted to Google Play http://ow.ly/2Wt95Z
Since the launch of Google Play and the Android Market before it, apps submitted have always been automatically tested before being made available – it’s part of what some describe as an attraction for Android, but Google has announced that this has now ended. On the Android Developers blog Google has announced they will be manually reviewing apps submitted to[Read More...]

Toyota backtracks on plans to support CarPlay yet, no plans for Android Auto. My suggestion to automakers is to make sure you appeal to your user base by supporting as many systems as possible. Could you imagine if Facebook only appealed to iPhone user base? Honestly, such a silly discussion could prevent growth in a company, even worse put them out of business.     However, this is a touchy subject. My gut feeling tells me Toyota is concerned about the cost to implement cross platform system. For instance, licensing fees which can be daunting. It is important to give your user base the ability to choose. If you purchase a new vehicle you should have the ability to choose a cross-platform system. After all, Sirius and Xm seems to be included in multiple vehicles. Why not change the option to an activation system and allow user base to upgrade at any time?     Either way, there are options and Toyota needs to pony up!  http://ow.ly/2VRMfb
When Apple announced its CarPlay platform last March, the company told us that Toyota would be one of a number of car manufacturers to adopt its new platform. But according to one Toyota manager, the company currently has no plans to support … Continue reading →

Google no longer requiring encryption on Nexus 6 Lollipop devices with next update. This will make new Nexus 6 owners happy as the speed increase will be increased. http://ow.ly/2Vuruo
In the lead-up to the launch of Android 5.0 Lollipop, there was much ado about Google encrypting devices for a higher level of security. At the time law enforcement officials cried foul, with device keys no longer in the hands of Google (or anyone) to unlock data stored on the phone. But it seems that Google has backtracked on the[Read More...]

You are invited to attend a meetup event at Starbucks meeting room located 2400 S. Bonnyview Rd. Redding, CA. We will continue to concentrate on  #Android 5 Lollipop and the influence of #material #design

We will continue development  from our last meeting where we created a simple application called Sigma Calculator. However, this time we will look at ways we can improve our design by updating our application to  #material #design
Last time we got a little carried away by converting C language to Java in efforts to compare the two. A good experiment as we were able to visually see the similarities and the ease of porting to Android platform.
I would expect the same to happen on this meetup as we compare and contrast design elements between different versions of Android as we update to the latest trend in #android 5 #material #design.

Our goal for this meetup is to push the envelope on better ways to convert your code to be compatible with the latest Android release. In addition we will cover topics that follow design standards.
