In light of Test Valley believing that all our employees should be happy at work, we think that a lot can be taken from the Danes and 'Hygge'.

Protect your eggs (watch the video)
by Test Valley Packaging on 6th September 2016 Posted under The test valley packaging charity boat race Visiting the john mcneill support centre
We have always made staff training fun at Test Valley, as you will see from the video below. This training event was focused on protecting a very delicate item, the humble egg.

With a time limit of 20mins, our participants gathered natural materials from the general area around our offices (which includes the beautiful river Nadder just around the back). This natural material would then be used to protect an egg from being dropped from the first floor window (18ft approx) onto the tarmac surfaced car park below.

http://www.testvalleypkg.co.uk/story/2016/10/11/ping-pong-tournament/26/
Some bright spark had the idea to host a Ping Pong tournament in the office last Friday!! And what an idea it was; I was, of course, knocked out in the first round by Michael Steedman, who had a vice like grip on his bat and a serve that could stop a train. An epic battle of old vs new unfolded in the what we thought was the mis-matched Polash vs Ian Steedman opener. Mr Steedmans age is officially unknown but his technique is now the talk of the company. Polash somehow overcome a barrage of stinging shots and defeated his deadly rival with conservative play. Russell vs Giles was a close tie between two sales reps. There was a lot of heavy breathing mixed with moments of technical genius. Russell prevailed with the use of a ventilator to reach his peak. Managing Director Jerry destroyed Rachel in his opener with a cluster of body shots which had his opponent calling out 'medic' but no one could help her. I did not see the match between Becky and Sarah, but hearing it was enough to chill me to the bone, I believe Sharapova herself could not make such a racket? The would-be winner of the tournament Greg Ball made easy work of his first game against Leonie who gave good Customer Service, but just wasn't in the mood for a rally longer than two shots.

After a blur of quarter, and semi finals, passed by, the grand final was Jerry vs Greg. The cameras were fixed on the table which now 'felt like a slab of cold steel' said Jerry. The match begun with Jerry taking the first 5 points, causing Greg to grimace like an arctic explorer walking into a headlong tundra. A swift comeback had Jerry on the ropes, his expression never changing, but the sudden red face told a thousand tales. Some great rallies commenced making Sarah look like a cat watching a mouse on a swing, the crowd gasped as a twenty shot rally ended with Greg commando rolling into Rachel's desk, Greg had somehow won the point and after a few boring miss hits from Jerry match point was now imminent. Greg received Jerry's serve returning the ball safely to the middle of the table. Jerry now forced Greg to attempt a backhand return in which came back with unusual power. Greg pounched on a weak return like a Bengal Tiger with a piercing shot to win game, set and match.

The master of ceremonies and referee Polash awarded Greg with the spoils, a £20 voucher and a years free entry to Longstanton Spice Museum.

Overall it was a great bonding exercise and how time passed by so quickly. Now that's what I call a Friday!!

In this Special Report we reveal what the future of packaging looks like, how to promote brand values through packaging and affordable alternatives to plastic. Further, we investigate how scientists are influencing your shopping and the YouTube unboxing video phenomenon. http://raconteur.net/future-packaging-2016
